I stayed here with my wife on our honeymoon for the full moon party. We stayed in one of the deluxe garden view rooms based on the photos online.
After checking in, I laid down for a quick nap only to discover that the bedding had blood stains from previous guests. We got those swapped out after going to the office and making a request.
Now If you’ve ever been to the island or the party, you will know that sand is a constant guest. We followed the instructions from the staff, leaving a sign outside our room asking for it to be cleaned on our second morning. We returned at night, after all the hotel staff is gone for the evening, only to discover the room was not cleaned.
The next day I walked into the office asking them to please clean my room that day. The man radioed to someone and gestured that they would get it done. That evening, same result - returned home to a sandy, dirty room.
Next day, I repeated the process, almost to a T, this time moving the sign where it was more clearly visible and going to the office to inform them of my discomfort. After returning home, once again, The room went I cleaned.
What a bummer. It really killed our post party mood each night.
The one upside is that the room itself looked like it did online and was free if bugs, mice, and other pests. Which is why If you are here for full moon party, I’d recommend only staying here the night if the party and finding other accommodations in the western side of the island for your other days. That would have been my plan but the city moved the full moon party around on us forcing our stay at Rin Beach Resort to be 4 days long.
The pool is clean and good. The beach sand is coarse, but the hammocks overlooking the sand are a nice add.
The final addition to my poor experience was getting stabbed by a sea urchin about 10 feet into the water one evening. That one isn’t the hotel’s fault, but still added to the negative experience I had.
In short, the pictures of the rooms match the experience. But you may want to drag the maids to your room yourself, as they seem to like not cleaning...
Read moreWe booked a bungalow for this hotel on booking and received a miserable room instead. The hotel is split between the main road. One side is the bungalows with the pool and ocean view which seemed nice, but the other side is a very poorly maintained building with many rooms side by side. Our room was absolutely disgusting !!
Beds and sheets smelled like piss the whole 4 days. They never came to change it even after we asked I have never seen such hard beds In my life, Impossible to sleep comfortably. It is much coming from me since I work on the road and sleep in hotels 200+ days per year. The walls are made of paper. 0 privacy and you can hear people coming in from 5 rooms further. The balcony are only split by a small ramp so anybody could come in your room if they want. The water pressure in the shower was so bad it is not even funny !! The air conditioning was spitting ice on us in the night. The safe was broken so instead of repairing it they weld a bracket to put a lock instead ? Wtf ? I guess they called this a « Unsafe »
And for the final, the owner was AWFULL. The legend says she never smiled in her whole life. She didn’t want to give us back our deposit for absolute no reason. The only good thing about this is the location. But there is plenty other hotel around there
Don’t make the same mistake as us ! I did not sleep for 3 days and took 2 massage since I was sleeping on a piss...
Read moreIt should be noted that this would have been a five star review if not for the baffling checkout process. In retrospect, it’s a little bit of a funny story, but it still drops Rin Beach from five stars to two.||||When I brought my key to checkout, I was escorted all the way back to my room by a young boy who was tasked with looking at my room. Maybe because it was during the Full Moon party they wanted to be sure it wasn’t trashed? I don’t know, but after a careful inspection he found that I was missing one of the shabby beach towels. ||||True, I had left one of the towels at the pool the day before. This will cost me my key deposit, I was told. I was a bit astonished. 500 Thai Baht?? I asked incredulously. For context, that’s nearly as much as a beach view superior suite at this resort when it’s not Full-Moon Party pricing. It’s definitely more than a guesthouse room at this resort. ||||That’s one expensive towel!||||I tried to laugh it off, but I was literally chastised at the front desk. “You must take care of the towels you are given.” There was walkie-talkie use going on about my negligence. I just shrugged it off to a 500 Baht mistake and laughed with a couple of other guests who were there for my public shaming.||||Later, an employee who had helped me earlier in my trip with my bag, apologized to me about “the towel incident”.||||Long story short - stay...
