Monnalisa ristorante italiano — Restaurant in Surat Thani Province

I’ve been to this restaurant many times and always enjoyed it. On the 10th, we decided to celebrate a friend’s birthday here. There were just four of us. We told the staff several times that it was a birthday, but no reaction at all.

At the end of the evening, I approached them myself with birthday candles and asked for a cheesecake or any dessert to celebrate. They eventually brought out a creme brulee (130 baht), without any enthusiasm, and added it to the bill. The total bill was over 3,000 baht. It left a bitter aftertaste.

The only warm moment came from other guests — they saw the candles and started singing “Happy Birthday.”

Also, the restaurant has no parking. After parking our motorbike in front of the entrance, a car hit it. This happened in plain sight of the staff. There was no reaction, no sympathy, no offer to help. They did, however, share the security camera footage after we asked, in case it’s needed for the police.

I’m unlikely to return. The pizza was good (though the salad in the photo wasn’t), but the overall attitude left a very unpleasant impression. I’ve been coming here for years and used to recommend this place to everyone — but...

I mostly come for Takeaway Pizza, but this time we wanted to experience Dining In. I had a Salsiccia & Spinach Pizza, which was OK, but had very little Taste. We also ordered the House Wine (Red Wine), which came out of a Box, priced at 700 Baht per Liter. It tasted SO BAD that we didn't want to finish it. The Salsiccia Steak was provided only as it is, without any Side other than some boring Salad, which didn't have any Dressing. Unfortunately the Salsiccia was overly salted. They also didn't provide any Sauce for it, so we had to ask for Ketchup & Mayo. As a Dessert we had Tiramisu, which was actually OK from the taste, but featured no Mascarpone like in the original Recipe, as it consisted of Whipped Cream. The Chocolate Mousse was left in the Fridge uncovered too long, therefore too much of the liquid evaporated already, thus it had a very sandy Texture instead of being creamy & smooth. Service Level didn't fit to the Prices. Nobody even asked if the Food was OK after they brought it. We both disliked...

As Italian, I was really impressed with Monnalisa! The quality of the food was exceptional, offering truly authentic Italian cuisine. The pizza was really tasty.

The linguine allo scoglio was the highlight of my meal, an excellent dish that beautifully combined classic Italian flavors with fresh local seafood. The portion was wonderfully generous and absolutely loaded with fresh seafood.

For dessert I highly recommend trying their tiramisù, which was creamy and had just the right balance of coffee and sweetness.

Having traveled extensively throughout Thailand, I can say Monnalisa stands out as an exceptional dining experience, that’s also surprisingly affordable considering the outstanding quality you receive.
