Got to the property and expected a white sand beach with use of a swimming pool. When we arrived the property has no white sanded beaches, only rock. Could not swim in the ocean here! Ok, we thought we will just use the swimming pool, no big deal. When we arrived at the pool there was a security guard who immediately started yelling at me for putting my toe in the pool, thought this was very strange! At this point we all went and put our bathing suits on for a swim in the pool. Eight of us came back to the pool, my 15 year old son and the rest of our family. As we started to enter the pool, this same security guard stated that we could not swim in the pool with board shorts and regular swim wear, which I have used through the world. We were told rudely that the men had to use European swim wear. Speedo type swimwear and bikinis for the girls. So basically we were banned from using the swimming pool. This property does not have their own pool they share a pool with another resort next-door. It felt like there was some kind of feud going on between the two property and we got caught in the middle. The staff at the desk keep giving us the runaround about a refund, as we had book this nightmare hotel for 3 nights. Finally after hours of talking to the manager at the property they gave us a telephone number in Bangkok to help us cancel the reservation. Booking.com tried to contact this number and was given the runaround by the staff in Bangkok. Finally after a few hours and a lot of fighting the hotel agree to give us all our money back except for the use of 1 room for the night. The price was around $90 a night. Would also like to mention that all the other hotels were charging around 200 baht for a massage, this hotel was charging around 2000 baht if I remember correctly. Very pricey for hotel with no beach, no pool, and nothing to do here. All the white sanded beaches are on the other side...
Read moreFairly new. About 15 to 20 minute walk from the pier. Not a long walk but you have to go uphill about half the way. So get a taxi if you bring with you a lot of baggage. Got little houses on a slope facing the sea. The view at sunrise is wonderful. About 10 minute walk from Sai Kaew beach, but remember to wear your wristband that you get at the reception when checking in, otherwise you'd not be allowed to go in as that beach seems to be the private property of the hotel right next to it, and no you can't use the beach chairs because they belong to another hotel and those are for their guests only. There are other chairs for rent though, 100 baht per chair per day. Not a lot but not as good.
The location of this hotel is probably not convenient enough for some. The nearest convenience store is about 10 minutes walk, so there's that. And the power outlets inside the small house I stayed in were in weird places, and the one on the wall right behind my nightstand was controlled by the lamp switch, which means if you turn off the light you won't be able to charge your phone. Didn't know that, so woke up the next morning to find my phone dead. Had to wait for an hour before I dared to go out because few people other than the hotel staff knew enough English to help you if you need anything so the translation apps are a must.
Probably will not stay there if I go to that...
Read moreStayed here for 4 nights and had a wonderful, peaceful time. Really recommend the cottages that are sea facing. Makes all the difference. Loved the mornings with the view of the sea first thing and an early morning swim. You have to be careful when wading in due to the rocks. But once you are in, it's lovely and not much of a crowd/boats unlike other areas of the island which were a bit of a nigtmare after 8am. This is a place to relax and unwind as it's small quiet and cozy. If you are looking for a bit more noise and action, maybe opt for one of the places closer to the main street. For us it was perfect as town is only a 10-15 minute walk away when we wanted more choice of restaurants/ massages etc. so we felt we had the best of both worlds. Staff are wonderful and there were 4 choices for breakfast. They are flexible though and you can mix and match a bit. The only downside was that the pipe in the bathroom burst in the morning while we were asleep and flooded the bathroom but it was fixed pretty quickly after we reported it. Don't forget to take advantage of the free transfer from the mainland! Overall highly...
