We had visited Chilli Hotel before and booked a room for 3 people. I made a big mistake though and got my booking dates wrong, and only realized when arriving at the hotel. The hotel staff were really helpful though and gave us a room even when they shouldn't have, and helped us with an extra bed.
The hotel is well located and has a great free breakfast and other services. We enjoyed walking to the beach, local restaurants and convenience stores from the hotel and I like how they have free Wifi and a place to clean your feet before going to your room. We also enjoyed a nice seafood dinner at the restaurant.
But the staff going above and beyond happened as we were leaving. My friend left her phone / ID card / credit cards in a motorbike we had rented that wasn't even connected to the hotel, but the hotel staff regardless helped us locate the lost items and sent them back to us in Bangkok, not even charging us for anything, saying they just wanted to help their hotel guests.
I'll be honest about Koh Samet, the rooms in the main town area don't really go over 3 stars, and it's not a perfect hotel experience. This is why the attention the detail does go a long way and my group really did appreciate it.
I would recommend this hotel to those staying in Koh Samet's main town area and to the staff of the hotel, if you're reading this, thanks again for all your help and generosity!
There are some bad reviews for this hotel here and on other platforms, but they must be...
Read moreThis is my second visit because their Pad Ka prow was very nice when I ate there for the first time. This time we decided to order more, some other popular Thai dishes. We ordered pad ka prow minced pork one again, some chicken spring rolls and grilled pork neck with french fries. Not sure if they were rushed because the restaurant was quite full and dinner guests were all waiting for their food. The staff did explain the food would come in about 30min so we expected the wait. After around 30 minutes, the spring rolls and the pork neck came. The minced pork dish came 20 minutes after the first two dishes. Both spring rolls and pork neck look anaemic. There was hardly any chicken in the spring roll but we were just fed up with the wait and wanted to just eat so we didn’t kick a fuss. But at 170 baht for 6 small pieces, it is so overpriced for a food shop with no sea view. You could get that at a nice big seaside restaurant with amazing beach side dining for just 120 baht for spring rolls, just to show you how overpriced they are with that dish. The pork neck was the most disappointing, it didn’t look grilled, more like pan fried in oil, and the accompany Nam Jim Jeaw chili dip was so underwhelming it was an insult to the institution of Thai food. Only the beer and the pad ka prow saved the day. So folks, I would only come here again just for the minced pork rice with...
Read moreHORRIBLE RUDE STAFF - NOT WORTH IT - AVOID THIS PLACE||||Room was good, staff is HORRIBLE. These are the rudest, most racist and obnoxious people I have ever had to deal with in 25 years of traveling in Thailand. They are RUDE, they make it clear that they HATE having to look up from their phone to talk to you about ANYTHING any time. I stayed here 3 weeks and I never even went to the restaurant after the 3rd time because I didn't even want to be in the same room as these stupid, ignorant racist A-holes. It's too bad because the room and location were good and the price was decent, but no way would I give these people my money again. I never leave 1 star reviews but these people make it clear that they hate foreigners and they deserve it. Sorry guys, you suck and you're not better than anyone else just because you're Thai. You don't respect me, well guess what - I didn't respect you either, but it's based on your BEHAVIOR and not because you're from a different country. Rude, racist...
