Full moon House Samui|Ok, I have mixed feelings about my stay here. I booked a 10 night stay and purely did this based on the reviews I had read. ||I will take full responsibility for my likes and dislikes as after staying here, I may be a littler fussier than I thought.||We did arrive too early to check in so had to hang around for quite a few hours before doing so. I am totally responsible for this and I never expect an early check in. |The only thing here that disappointed me was with most hotels, if room isn’t ready, you are still offered to use the facilities. There was no offer here. It would have been nice to go for a swim as we were hot and uncomfortable from travelling but we were just told to come back at 2pm. We could however leave our bags at reception. ||The room. |Pros: Very very clean and the fridge was a nice size. Water pressure in shower also good. ||Cons: |Bunker like. |Bed was way too hard, even for Thailand. Everything gets wet in shower room, but moving things around does avoid this. It got annoying though having to move all our things. |Nowhere to hang towels in bathroom|Very bad tv. Couldn’t watch anything. ||Pool: no idea what was wrong here. I did see the pool cleaner ph testing but can’t understand it if his readings were correct. |Our eyes hurt every time we used the pool, so either there is too much chlorine or the ph test is incorrect. |Pool was cleaned daily and is lovely, just needs to be a bit less on the chlorine I think. ||Wifi: very temperamental. I did get best service outside but quite often it just rolled around. No page would load. |I’m not too fussed about this but thought I would mention it in case like me,|People need to do some work whilst on vacation. ||Other facilities: |Tea and coffee and use of microwave and toaster nice touch. |I thought this would be fine and we did use it but not being able to make a cup of tea in the late afternoon or evening is a downer for me. |I knew this facility was available but wasn’t aware it was only until 4pm.|It would have been nice to chill on the balcony at nite with a Cuppa before bed. ||Staff: initially thought professional and helpful, but came away thinking it’s all just a process. |Usually when you are a guest, a little hello here & there wouldn’t go astray. |I did get a hello the first day then it just seemed head down on mobiles and totally disinterested. |I’m not saying that I wanted their full attention and that I’m needy, but I am a hotel manager myself and if you are going to work in hospitality, be hospitable. |I did however get the attention of one of the housekeepers when our outside light was left on and she came running up the path pointing frantically and yelling. I got the message and apologised as I hadn’t realised it was on. She did frighten me though because from her reaction, I thought my room was on fire. ||So after 3 nights, we decided to leave. The biggest factor here was, due to the bed, my travel companion could hardly move due to a really sore back and neck and she started giving me death stares. ||Checkout was blank, but to be honest, I don’t think the gentleman at the desk could speak English. So understandable. |I tried to explain what we were doing but he just looked at me. I handed him the key and think he understood then. ||I think Fullmoon House Samui is a great option for young people who want a base to bed down. The price is amazing and I have to admit that for the money, you do get a clean bed and a pool. |It’s just not for me. |Just tweek a few things here and there and even for a budget accommodation, this could be amazing. |Housekeepers and cleaning staff are the hero’s here though. The place is...
Read moreWe arrived in Koh Samui with no where to stay. We used Hostelbookers to the Fullmoon House Samui. It was showing only one room left so we booked it. Half an hour later we found the place and went to book in. Unfortunately about the time we booked on Hostelbookers they Fullmoon House Samui had a walk in booking for that last room so when we arrived they were full. A guy on the front desk, who's name was New, was fantastic and did not leave us stranded. He told us that he would help us out by finding us somewhere to stay for the same price. Within 10 minutes he came back from his office and told us he had found us a room less than two minutes away. He walked us over to the place and booked us in and also paid for our stay, we then paid him the price that was quoted from hostelbookers for the Fullmoon House Samui. He also invited us back to use his WiFi and have free coffee. ||||The location of this place is perfect. It's set back just off the main road near to the bars, restaurants and shops but set back enough that it is beautiful and peaceful. Even though we didn't stay here we did have a look at the well maintained grounds. We also spoke with someone who was lucky enough to stay here and we were told that the rooms are great and spacious.||||If we were to return to Koh Samui I would aim for staying here. You can't go wrong when the staff are so dedicated and helpful. One tip, book in advance to avoid...
Read moreSlightly disappointed with our stay. This was the only location we stayed during our travels that didn’t provide bottled water each day and the rooms were only cleaned twice per week. Reception isn’t 24 hours which also isn’t ideal. There was also no shampoo or soap in the bathroom which was strange, every other place we stayed no matter how cheap had provided this. There was also a man staying in one of rooms who was either very drunk or on drugs numerous days and made us feel quite uncomfortable. He would be sitting outside during the day making loud noises then would head out at night. We saw him trying to talk to a young girl working at the restaurant next door and a male staff member from the restaurant had to come and get him to leave her alone. Not necessarily the hotels fault but wouldn’t have liked to be staying with children with someone like that around. Pool was fine and seemed to be kept clean. Location was good, quiet at night but also close to the main areas in Lamai. Overall it was an ok stay but we stayed in other places for the same price or less with better service and amenities when travelling Thailand. Might find better value for...
