A very busy restaurant on a street with many options, this is the one that stood out for us. I love Indian food and after 5 days of Thai food for lunch and dinner I wanted a change.
Menu is extensive, anything you could possibly want is on there with pictures too in case you wanted to try a new dish and unsure what it looks like. Prices are more than fair from what I have seen from different Indian places around the island. 3 front of house staff that are waiting on you and what looks like the owner behind the bar running the show.
We ordered Chicken Vindaloo, Chicken Korma, Chips and rice which came to 580 baht, which is 50% less than what I would pay normally back home so I was pleased with that!
The food did underwhelm though. I’ve eaten a LOT of Indian in my 30 years and it was probably the most disappointing portion of rice I’ve ever had, not because of quantity, that was fine but sheer quality. Clumpy and chewy, I usually always know I’m getting good rice when I go to an Indian. I didn’t here. Fries came out 5 minutes before the rest of the main course which I thought was odd. My vindaloo spice was perfect but actual temperature of my food? Warm at best. I like my food to come out piping hot, so I know it’s fresh and I can let it cool if I want to. I know by serving them in the dishes they do, the food will stay hot, so there will be no issue of it going cold but mine was just Luke warm and that let me down as I did really enjoy the taste of it.
Place was busy and food did only take 35 minutes to come so a bonus there.
I am going to air on the side of caution here because of the price and because of the actual flavor of the food and say 4/5 but if I was pushed and had the opportunity to do .5 this would be a 3.5. Would return but need a better quality next time to be able to...
Read moreVisited the restaurant after being asked by the owner to come and try his food and yesterday I got the opportunity and time to have dinner there. I started with beer and for starters ordered Chicken Tikka and Paneer tikka for my wife as she is vegetarian. The start was good and delicious and for main course I ordered for myself Mutton Bhuna Masala medium spicy and my wife ordered Dal Makhani and Mixed veg and we ordered Garlic Nan and Tandoori Roti . It was really very good and delicious and worth every penny.Service was very good and efficient and the owner Mr.Tripathi was very down to earth and good to converse with.Overall I would recommend any one coming to Samui at least go and try the Indian food ( if you like and enjoy Indian food) and even if you haven’t had Indian food go and try for once you won’t be disappointed. Full marks in all department food...
Read moreBest Indian food I've had in South East Asia! The menu is massive so plenty to choose from but I just went for set menu 2. This included butter chicken, rice, garlic naan and papadums. The butter chicken had lots of chunks of chicken in and the sauce was absolutely delicious. The naan bread was super garlicy which I loved (but the garlic taste didn't linger too much which was good) and the papadums had lots of spices in. The set menu was 260baht and was a big size portion so I thought it was good value. I had it with a mango juice (80baht) which came in a big glass and was really tasty too. The service was very good and they are happy to wrap up any leftovers for you to take away with you. Would highly...
