It’s the simple things that matter right? |This guesthouse lives up to its name in the best ways that matter to a traveler!||I didn’t even realize this until I stayed here for a day or two and then realized how many little things that make the design of the room and this place so ideal for any traveller. ||Lighting:|First thing I noticed here were the lights and switches. The lighting has been so well-thought out that there is a combination of “warm” and “cold” lights. This sort of detail is usually only found in 4-5 Star hotels. Lighting plays such a big part in the room experience that it’s shocking so many hotels don’t even understand this. Most hotels offer a standard flourescent lighting scheme throughout the space without realizing it gives off a cold lifeless sensation, no matter how nice the furnishings are. ||Here at Simple House Ao Nang, I was surprised to find that they installed tungsten bulb lights in the bed section of the room, which made that space cosy and more relaxing. Each bulb has a corresponding switch, and thus the lighting in the room can be properly selected, instead of standard hotels where one switch often turns on a row of lights in a room, flooding the room with brightness. ||This makes such a big difference to the feeling of the space within the room!|You will know this when you actually experience it. ||Related to the lighting in the room is the choice of curtains. Here, the curtains are the thick ones where you can close it and the room is completely dark. This is perfect for proper sleep, especially when traveling and needing a good rest. ||Shower: |The second thing I notice was the amazing shower head that is provided. You can rotate and change the type of water spray you want but I have to say this was one of the best I’ve experienced. I actually took a photo of the shower head because I want to know the brand/company that manufactures it. There is one selection that produces multiple sprays and it’s the most refreshing sensation during your the shower. Again, it’s the simple little things that makes such a difference. ||Bed Area:|Apart from the lighting that makes the bed area feel so relaxing, the other nice touch is the inclusion of a large straw mat right next to the bed that can be used as a space for meditation, stretching, prayer etc. If you come from one of the many Eastern cultures that is comfortable with sitting on the floor, this big mat is a wonderful bonus to the bed area. |The bed is comfortably firm for back good back support and the covers are nice and warm to offset the air conditioner. ||Talking about Air conditioner, I found the controller to be simply wonderful as well. There’s intuitively simple controls, along with smart options like turning off the lighting on the controller and conditioner so that the room remains dark at night despite the air conditioner running. ||Location Premises:|This guesthouse is located under a beautiful limestone cliff and tucked away in a quiet but rather natural and beautiful section in Ao Nang town. There are many exclusive boutique accommodations in this area, which speaks to this location. Each room here has a window that looks out to something natural and beautiful. The front part of the premises faces the magnificent limestone cliff, while the back part of the premises faces the garden and sky. There’s an individual broad seating bench in front of each room which is, again, something simple but well-thought out. It makes such a difference to have this attached to the front of the room for putting things or sitting in front and enjoying the views. ||There’s a shared kitchen and dining area, and two table-seating sections in the garden area. ||The Simple House is in the middle of Ao Nang town, and it’s highly accessible to the most important things a traveler needs: food, ATMs and banks, post-office(!), supermarkets, access roads, motorcycle rental (Mr.Kord!), the sights (close enough to explore, yet tucked away quietly for a good night’s rest). Highly ideal. ||Highly recommended. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟|The Simple House Ao Nang lives up to its name and will delight you in unexpectedly simple ways. Read moreI am so glad we chose Simple House for our stay in Krabi. The staff are so helpful and kind, they gave us great recommendations for activities and we booked a few directly with them, and they arranged a taxi to Tiger Cave Temple for us (as we wanted time to explore without a guide). They also extended our stay without issue when the airline changed our flights, sorted out transport to the airport, and made sure we had rehydration drinks when my partner got ill.
The rooms are spacious and clean, the location is perfect - beautiful and quiet (although there was some construction work happening nearby during a couple days - not a problem if you're out exploring in the daytime), far enough from the bustle and noise of the main strip of Ao Nang but an easy 20~ min walk down to the beach, with lots of nice places to eat and drink nearby (plenty of vegan, veggie, halal and Jain options too).
We are so grateful for our time here and would stay here again without hesitation if we get to come back to Krabi. I will miss Simple House, the lovely hosts, and the two...
