Review of Beachside Backpackers Hostel in Phuket, Thailand
I recently spent a few nights at Beachside Backpackers Hostel near Patong Beach in Phuket, Thailand, and it turned out to be an excellent choice for a solo traveler like myself.
Location: The hostel is ideally located just a five-minute walk from the bustling Patong Beach. This prime location means you’re close to the beach, nightlife, shops, and restaurants. Despite its proximity to all the action, the hostel is nestled in a quieter street, providing a peaceful retreat after a day of exploration.
Facilities: Beachside Backpackers offers a range of well-maintained facilities. The common areas are inviting and perfect for socializing. There’s a cozy lounge area with bean bags and a TV, a communal kitchen that’s clean and well-equipped, and a rooftop terrace offering beautiful views of the sea and the city. The free Wi-Fi is strong and reliable throughout the property, which was convenient for planning my activities and staying in touch with family.
Rooms: I opted for a private room, which was a great choice for some much-needed privacy. The room was small but functional, featuring a comfortable bed, air conditioning, and ample storage. The en-suite bathroom was modern and spotless, with hot water available at all times. For those on a tighter budget, the dormitory rooms also looked spacious and came with personal lockers.
Staff: The staff at Beachside Backpackers were one of the highlights of my stay. They were incredibly friendly, always greeted me with a smile, and were more than happy to offer tips on local attractions and dining options. Their warm hospitality made me feel right at home.
Activities: The hostel organizes various activities that are perfect for solo travelers looking to meet others. I participated in a pub crawl and a Thai cooking class, both of which were fantastic. These activities provided a great opportunity to socialize and added a lot of fun to my stay.
Cleanliness: Cleanliness was consistently maintained throughout the hostel. The common areas, kitchen, and bathrooms were regularly cleaned, ensuring a pleasant environment. My private room was also well-maintained and cleaned daily.
Value for Money: Considering the prime location, excellent facilities, and the overall quality of service, Beachside Backpackers offers great value for money. It’s reasonably priced, making it an attractive option for solo travelers seeking both social and private spaces.
Overall Experience: My stay at Beachside Backpackers Hostel was thoroughly enjoyable. The combination of its fantastic location, excellent facilities, and friendly staff made it a memorable experience. I highly recommend this hostel to solo travelers heading to Phuket who want to be close to Patong Beach while enjoying a friendly and comfortable environment.

Read moreThe name “Patong Poshtel” only serves as good alliteration… there is NOTHING posh about this place. Changing the bed sheets to fitted sheets, the blankets to something other than towels, and fitting a real mattress in would go a long way to improving customer experience. My friends and I had the worst sleeps of our entire 4 week trip at this hostel. Not to mention the people that kept opening the door and coming into our rooms in the middle of the night! My friend actually went delirious and lost her mind from lack of sleep. And everyone was in low spirits our entire time in Patong due to tiredness and sore backs. The overall security of this hostel is also awful! The staff (we hope!) kept coming in during the night, all the lockers’ keys had the same cut. They give you a little locker next to the bed, but literally any of our keys would work. You are not allowed to lock the door of your room. Any person could walk all the way up to your bed from the street. The bathrooms always had a vague stench of sewerage. One night we actually got trapped in the bathroom, as the door handle was broken and didn’t work from the inside. Overall greatly disappointed by this hostel. The pictures must have been taken years ago, as they look nothing like reality. If the beds weren’t so awful, we possibly could have put up with the rest. The staff were all lovely, genuine, and helpful. Lost a star though bc they kept coming into our room...
Read moreThe property is more than adequate for price. Reception can book tours and rides. The pod gets hot because the curtain traps the heat inside. It's a thick polyester. Blocks the light though 😎 I would wear noise blocking headphones or earplugs. The cleaning could be more in depth. Such as adding vinegar to the towel washer to get rid of the musty damp towel smell. I do this at home and works amazing. Also stop adding fabric softener to the towels. It makes the towels water repellant 😅 Ladies room is always filthy and I blame the ladies. Can you add a waste bin for the filthy lazy guests in the female dorm. Some girls peed in the shower stall last night. Why are you girls so gross. Grab some etiquette or stay home. All the doors don't lock but I still felt safer here than in my last dorn on Koh Pangan. (Mixed). Property provides Luggage Locker and bed locker as well and a shoe locker on base level. You get three keys, don't lose them. Top floor has a shared common space that is pretty plain. The reception is designed cute. Close to so much. I loved the breakfast buffet for 450 bt walk across the bridge to the next main road and turn left and the immediate hotel has a...
