Its an old hotel but the rooms are clean. No musty weird smell in the room, pillows & toilet. Breakfast was good. The single star is due to the front desk. All of the front desk workers are not friendly & helpful at all especially an older lady. We stayed here for almost a week & noticed that she treats other guest rudely too except Thai guests. 1st day when we arrive we asked if there was any car rentals around, just a question & already answered rudely as if we are not welcomed there. Just say sorry no, instead raised voice & said no no no. 2nd time we asked another person at the front desk if there are any bike rentals nearby, looked at us said no & just continued looking down at her desk. 3rd time we tried asking! Before we could even reach the counter they shooed us away. Last day of our stay we requested to check out late at 4pm & the charges was 400baht if till 6pm another 280baht. Which was fine we paid it. After all the bad vibes & negative aura & unwelcomeness feeling from them I forgot our room key which was tied together to our bike rental key, we checked out earlier & went to inform the front desk that we left the key & we’re gonna go get it, the older lady stood up & started mumbling something to her colleques & then starred at us without saying anything. Excuse me woman, are you front desk or my mother? Rude rude rude, what a start of the year experience. Its so unfortunate, the negative experience with the front desk overshadowed the cleanliness of the rooms and the quality of breakfast. It's disappointing when staff attitudes impact the overall perception of a hotel stay. Customers are not always right but you are a hotel so please be a little friendlier & welcoming to guests that chose to stay...
Read moreThe facility is an old hotel. The service is also basic: towel and shampoo, body whisk, 2 bottles of mineral water, cup...... (Basic items provided) However, slippers are not provided. Parking and 24-hour security and front desk service, ........ Everything is reasonable for Bangkok visitors on business trips. The best thing is the breakfast service at the hotel. Thai food, international standard breakfast, coffee, juice, ......... It's very fancy.
To go to the BTS station (45-50 baht) you have to take a taxi every time. (You can walk there, but it is quite painful) It is not in Bangkok city center, so we recommend taking a taxi from the BTS station to the hotel. There is a daily food street right next door, and a street Thai restaurant is open every evening. There is also a convenience store, a restaurant where you can eat from breakfast to dinner, a very friendly female hair shop, and a bank (money exchange). There is also an Amazon coffee shop across the street. Big C Market is a 5-minute taxi ride away. Convenience stores have everything you need, but keep that in mind if you're a long-term guest.
I didn't see it in the room, but there are very small ants in the bathroom. If you are sensitive to tiny ants, this is not the place for you. I can't figure out why there are little ants. Having ants means no cockroaches. But I don't like ants either.
The swimming pool is on the 4th floor, but no one uses it because the tiles are broken. This is very unfortunate.
All in all, this is a friendly hotel at a...
Read moreThis is my second stay at Mido Hotel, Bangkok from 1-5 June 2013. Mido still the best hotel that really give us the pleasure stay.||Front desk staff, bell boy, and even security are all very helpful and they always serves with smile. Front desk staff could speak chinese, english and thai and they could simply provide you any information about the surrounding attraction......and most important is you must try to get the name of the places that you are going in (Thai) or ask them to talk to the taxi driver in thai because most of the taxi driver do not understand english.||In house massage available at 3rd floor, and swimming pool at 4th floor. Wifi in room also available for free. Restaurant at ground floor which is just located next to the front desk.||The cleanliness is perfect. You can get the taxi, motorbike taxi, or tuk-tuk within 5 sec at the main road or you may ask the staff to call a taxi for you.||Money exchange also available at front desk but personally recommend you to change it at any money chnager which is just few steps walk from this hotel to get a better exchange rate. ||The only problem of this hotel is, it is not recommend for handicapped people because it is still lack of handicapped facilities.||Overall, it is an...
