updated review (2023.12)
the hotel facilities are now more stable and I have not experienced a power outage or water halt during my recent stay (nearly 1 month). everything was well managed.
staffs are kind and overall its a good choice to stay here. I wish to give a big compliment to front-desk staff 'Piggy' who has been exemplary in her service and attitude. She was the only person who acknowledged my status as 'Gold' member and reminded me of my privileges (1 complimentary beverage + late check-out).
Moreover, she seemed to greet every guest with smile and pleasure. Although 'Hop Inn' is positioned to be a affordable cost hotel (2 star hotel), her service throughout my stay complemented to make it feel like in par with that of 4~5 star hotel. I've stayed in numerous hotels in Bangkok in the last decade but its rare to find a professional like her.

I'm really satisfied at the HopInn brand as the rooms are standardized and clean. The daily room clean is also predictable and the system, membership program is a good deal. Overall I will give 9/10.
But I have to say that I'm also worried at the same time because I've experienced 3 incidents during my recent stay that gave me frustration and discomfort.
1 electric (power) outage and 2 water outage. The electric (power) outage was a sudden incident which the hotel managed to fix it quickly within 1~2 hours. One water outage suddenly erupted but I had to be notified that it will get fixed by 6PM which was very inconvenient. I had to give up taking a shower. The last incident of water outage happened on my check-out day (Sep. 11, 2023).
The staff are great but the stability of the hotel (electric + water) makes me frightened and I'm not sure if this situation will happen again if I choose to stay in the future. I wish these problems get addressed and make sure it does not happen.
One more thing to address is the wifi connection. Its so inconvenient that I have to connect every time when I come back from outside. Everytime I comeback, I have to press 'skip', enter my ID/PW to connect wifi on my devices. I think the system should be able to auto-connect once I managed to get connected in first place...
Read moreI highly recommend this hotel. The convenience and location can't be beat. I'm a solo traveler. This is my first trip to Bangkok (but third to Thailand). Hop Inn Onnut made my introduction to this hectic city easy. It is 200m from the BTS station, but it feels even closer since you can walk through the food court of the Tesco Lotus to get between the hotel and the BTS. This allows you to enjoy more air conditioning or get a snack!
I stayed at this hotel for nine days. The service and cleanliness were top notch. I had a lightbulb burn out in my room and house keeping replaced it in minutes. The hotel provides one roll of toilet paper a day. This is great for families, but excessive for a solo traveler like myself. Khun Piggy at the front desk made a note that I didn't need daily toilet paper. The staff is so attentive to all the guests needs. Khun Piggy, Khun Nini, and Khun Spy all speak English really well and stand up all day long to greet everyone with kindness.
The wifi was fantastic during my stay. I had numerous Zoom meetings and I never needed to switch to cellular internet.
One other thing I really appreciate are the two 500ml glass bottles of water that are provided with the room. I've never had glass bottles in a hotel in Asia before. I really appreciate being able to drink water from glass and not contribute to more plastic waste.
This is a great hotel. I would...
Read moreA clean place to stay at night with a satisfying bed and good AC unit. Good security in place as well with keycard-required entry and a security man at the door after dark.
However, improvements I'd recommend:
-Over a 5 night stay my sheets were not changed, only re-made. It's okay to not change every day, but every second day at minimum would be nice. I could tell the sheets weren't changed as there was a noticeable hole in the sheet... And it was there every day.
-It would be nice if there was soap for the sink separate from the shower soap.
-It would be nice if there was a hand towel offered and/or washcloth, rather than just bath towels.
-The handle in the shower was unable to turn. Thus, I could not change the temperature of the water. It seemed to change on its own between a range of slightly cold, lukewarm, to slightly hot. I'm not sure if it was just my unit or they are all like this.
-The WiFi was mostly stable but sometimes sporadic in its availability or signal strength. It was also a bit annoying to have to sign in again every time I came back to the room on both of my devices (laptop and phone; or turned on and off in the case of the laptop).
All in all, this is not a hotel to spend a great deal of time in. But for a place to shower and sleep between exploring the city, it's a great value in a...
