So, I stayed there for almost a month (both in a female dorm and a private room): Staff is great, very friendly! Loved meeting other travelers such cool people in the common area- where there's also NETFLIX/etc. available on a big TV (although very small area) Laundry was great; comfy beds; appreciated the small table with a chair to work on my laptop in the private room.
It was very inconvenient when staying in the dorm on floor 4 to always be passing by the reception, dining room/kitchen, common room. Throughout the whole month I was there, there was only one(!!!!! toilet on floor 4 available- imagine for how many girls! It was so inconvenient. No window in the private room, and literally my window was looking at the other room and the stairs hence always someone passing by- had to use artificial light at all times, with curtains closed- very inconvenient. Also, was very dirty in general both in the private room and female dorm- the cleaning staff only sweeps the floor but not actually using a wet cloth to mop it- hence, a lot of dust and dirt / hair- this was the biggest disadvantage to me. đâŒïžAnother huge issue was in the female dorm where there were so many travelers coughing one by one; and one particular lady coughing every 15 seconds the whole two nights and obviously very ill - when me and some other travelers staying in the room addressed this to the owners of the hostel (two sisters) when we saw them by accident- all they said was "well, she's already leaving tomorrowđâ- with a smile. so we had to endure and suffer for one more night. this put at risk the whole hostel. and of course after this sick lady left, we all got sick. very unprofessional of the owners to handle a health issue in the DORM like this. I was very disappointed. The area is also kinda inconvenient in terms of local people living and some other small businesses- always smth going on, and always always always horrible smell from rotting garbage and untreated wastewater. There's only subway nearby and nothing else (we could never locate the bus stop), which is also not very convenient as the bts is a lot better. Not many...
Read moreCâHouse was lovely for the 5 nights that I stayed :) While it wasnât exactly the type of hostel I was aiming for, I definitely feel that I was comfortable and got my moneyâs worth from my stay here. đ„ł
4-bed dorms: The curtains are a bit thin, so it can feel at times that privacy is lacking a bit. That said, the beds were comfortable and spacious enough. I prefer a colder room to sleep in, but I think the AC being set at 24 is fine for most normal people đ
Common room: Very cute, loved the beanbags and couches. Thereâs a TV with Netflix, so if youâre less shy than I am, you could make friends and have a cute movie night on a rainy day. The breakfast was free, so thatâs lovely :) but it did look very very basic (instant coffee, bread, jam, and some watermelon). 7-Eleven was close enough, so I walked there for a budget breakfast each morning. đ„ł Plenty of space to bring food back and sit and eat it.
Staff: So nice and sweet, I left my key in my room a couple of times, and if they had started to hate me, they certainly never showed it đ Also got some nice recommendations from them for things to do, places to run errands, etc :)
Bathrooms: Showers stay a bit steamy, but thatâs SEAsia for you. Private enough spaces, a cute basket for shared/lost toiletries. The showers have shower gel and shampoo if you forgot to bring some of the basics.
Location: Itâs close to a metro station which is great! Also close to a train station that has a lot of lil food stalls and stuff. Besides Chinatown, it didnât seem like there was too much happening nearby, but itâs easy enough to get around in BKK, and it was nice not having people trying to sell you stuff every 10 steps you take. Peaceful for people who are more comfortable with Thailand or looking for a quieter area to stay.
Overall: Lovely hostel, I have no meaningful complaints. Enjoyed my stay here, thank you for...
Read moreI can not say enough about how great the staff is here. I'm going to fail at the spelling their names, but A-dam, Chofah, and Nan Ling in particular were just remarkably kind and helpful. They genuinely make the stay here brighter and more joyful; lovely people. A-dam even hosted a cooking class with the grace and care of a life-long teacher. The staff keep everything clean in an expertly orchestrated cycle somehow without getting in the way of the MANY travelers this Hostel hosts.
My only critique, is about the A/C in the dormitory rooms. It's controlled by staff and set very warm. I'm from a cold climate and I was sweating all night long, not a big deal... but more importantly, as the night gets cooler, the A/C shuts off completely leaving stagnant, stale air with no circulation in a room full of travelers (who may be experiencing stomach upset, or are sick and coughing). Clearly part of the business and ethical model of this Hostel is being careful with energy consumption, and I appreciate that. However, there needs to be air circulation throughout the night. No one in the dormitory feels empowered to open the windows because of energy loss and mosquitos. The stale air was a problem.
Secondly, the driers are set to automatic sensing, but the moisture sensors seem to be malfunctioning. If you use the drier, stay close as you will need to reset the machine every 3 min or so... but the timer that you paid for will keep ticking down as though the machine is working. I burned through 100 bhat drying a few t-shirts before I realized what was happening.
All in all a lovely stay in a very bright and well designed Hostel, worth the extra bhat for the the amenities and remarkable...
