Really tasty and fresh Thai vegetarian food at this cafe on a quiet alley about a 2-minute walk from exit to Hua Lamphong MRT station. There are two shop spaces of internal seating... But it was a nice evening and I enjoyed one of the 3 outdoor tables, directly across from a small local temple. Menu was extensive and the decisions was difficult... So I decided on two dishes the red curry claypot and the spicy som tum salad. The curry broth was thick and flavorful, I recommend getting a serving of rice to add into the broth and soak it up. Even when the ingredients were eaten, I finished all of the broth with a spoon, and each flavorful and lightly spicy spoonful was very tasty. The som tum had just the right level of spice just above nose running but not quite sweating which allowed me to enjoy the dish rather than put out the fire. The warm noodles on the side helped soak up the flavorful sauce on the salad. I paired it with an herbal drink I hadn't seen before and had light sweet taste which was great after the intense savory flavors. Friendly and efficient staff precoded nice service. Have marked this as a place to eat again next time I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWas recommended by my travel buddy's friend. Took a straight bus from Phloen Chit (my accommodation area), walked 5 minutes and found the eatery easily. Arrived around 1130am and there were a few free tables. But very soon after the locals arrived and the place was packed.
There's a huge variety of selection, from Thai cuisine to western. We ordered som tam, tom yum soup, meatball noodle soup and tomato dry noodle. Portions were big and I loved the som tam especially. Tom yum soup was of enough richness and the meatballs were tasty. We ate this meal very happily and for me, very peacefully.
We bought the handmade crackers and vegetarian squid snacks which were not expensive. Spent a total of 400 baht. Staff were friendly and able to speak English so there were quite a number of tourists visiting too.
Would love to visit this place everyday. Strongly recommend...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place is busier partly because of tourists who read travel blogs and reviews. IMHO, the food did not like up to expectations. Ordered the stir fried curry crab, the dish with sator beans, and noodle with mushroom dish, papaya salad, herbal drink and rice. Bill was around $460 TB. Taste was nothing special, had high expectations for the stir fried curry crab which was breaded mock crab or shrimp with a fairly standard curry sauce. Tried the sator bean dish for the experience. The sauce was better, the sator bean texture and bitter taste was not yummy. The noodle dish was average. The papaya salad was the standout but not exceptional. Would not repeat. Also servers seemed busy, not always available. Arrived by car, GPS directions were not straightforward car and parking...
