Mustang Blu, you are a Dorian Gray! You look amazing but your inner is totally rotten. My last visit started as always: Just right after your stuff suggested me a sit I was warned that the minimum order starts from 2 positions from your menu. I came to have a full dinner with starters, main dishes, desserts and drinks, but thatās alright⦠It makes me think that people r coming to your restaurant to just have a look and to take pics and they are r not really eating there, thatās why you fall that low that now you have to ask your guest to order at least 2 positions to earn at least something. Thatās cheap and there are other, much democratic options in service that you can provide in your policy to sell your menu much more successful. But you donāt know about them, your stuff is terribly untrained. Proof of that is also the fact that you ask the deposit in 1.500 THB for booking a table. Very cheap. Any really good restaurant does it. Moreover, how do you know who will run away and who will stay and pay the bill? It was so arrogant from you, the Mustang Blu! Once I brought my friend for a brunch to your restaurant. After weāve made an order I said that she has to see your reception area, because itās also impressive with full of ostriches skeletons and antiques.. After we came back to the table your stuff brought us a bill.. before the aperitif came even. Interesting that when before I was there with my other friend (male and that was my first visit to your place) - your stuff decided to skip the information about the minimum order and also didnāt bring us the bill right after weāve made an order. Both times it was the brunch time, around 12-1pm. How does your stuff decides who should receive the information about your cheap policy and who shouldnāt? According on how do people look? Yes, in my last visit you said something about the hours when you do say this to your guests, but Iām sorry, my experience with you pushes me to think that there is something else behind this⦠My last visit was awful. Iāve started with oysters and of cus a glass of sparkling white wine, canāt be more classier, but returning from the restroom I saw a plate of oysters and the sparkling water! on the table. The waiter misunderstood me, but Iām sorry, who orders oysters and a sparkling water? Itās a bit strange order and would I be a waiter I would definitely ask again just to make sure Iāve got the order correct. It was still fine with me and I said to not take it away but still bring me the glass of sp.wine. It confused the waiter and he went to the bar to ask if itās possible or not. Then he came back and said that they sell only red wine in glasses and white wine only in a bottle. Ok, I said to bring me the menu to check the cocktails, Iāve ordered one on a gin base, it supposed to be light by the description but when it came it was worse than just pure 70% alcohol. Not a match with the oysters at all! Moreover I was waiting for that cocktail around 10-15 minutes and the oysters were still on the table waiting with me for the drink comes.. Mustang Blu, your stuff doesnāt know that the oyster is such a product that has to be eaten right after you open it and never 15 minutes later, otherwise it can be a dangerous poisoning. In really good restaurants the stuff comes and warn to eat oysters faster, because itās their responsibility as well to make sure that all the food is fresh and they wonāt poison anyone. So, the cocktail was bad and the waiter suggested to change it but didnāt bring me the menu back. Then I saw that the ice on my oysterās plate is almost melted but Iām still without a drink, only that sparkling water.. Iāve invited the stuff to take oysters away and maybe to change them or to do something because I was about to wait for another drink that also takes time to make and to wait. The waiter took oysters and then 5 minutes later the manager came and kindly suggested me to pay for the the sparkling water and to leave the restaurant..To pay for the water I didnāt want and leave! when I was still about to stay.. Iām...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe hotel is beautiful, and the ownersā love for detail and aesthetics is truly evident. Unfortunately, the level of comfort doesnāt live up to the setting.
There is no soundproofing: despite the earplugs provided, the noise from the streetāespecially motorbikesāis very noticeable. On top of that, a lot of light enters the room even with all the curtains drawn, as some windowsāparticularly the ones directly facing the bedāsimply donāt have any. It might sound charming in theory, but in practice, itās not functional at all. Storage spaces are also far from ergonomic, and I struggled to make sense of the layout.
That said, the bed is very comfortable.
As for the service, the experience was disappointing. The staff were not very welcoming: only one receptionist greeted us upon arrival, while the others stayed glued to their phones or tablets. Their limited English made communication difficult and led to misunderstandings. For example, after forgetting to pre-order breakfast one day as requested, we went to the front desk to apologise and check if we could simply order it the next morning. We were told it wouldnāt be a problem. Yet, the next morning, we were informed that our breakfast had been canceled.
We also asked for a late check-out because of a very late flight, but there was no flexibility or alternative offered. In the end, it was another hotel that allowed us to shower and freshen up before departure.
Throughout the stay, we felt like we were being treated with suspicion from the start. That feeling was reinforced at check-out when they insisted on inspecting the room before letting us leaveāa surprising practice for a hotel that claims to be 4 stars. If you already have our passports and credit card details, thereās really no need for such mistrust.
Projects like this one, which preserve the urban heritage of cities like Bangkok, are worth supporting. But they should never come at the cost of guest comfort. Sadly, staying in this hotel feels like sleeping outside, given the constant noise and light that make it hard to get any rest.
Perhaps providing staff with English lessons as part of their employment benefits could go a long way in improving the overall guest experience.
At $180 a night, I wouldnāt recommend staying here. Come for a few cocktails, ignore the showy crowd,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt was by chance that I hear about this hotel from my partner, and obviously it was not the easiest hotel to book during the high seasons, considering the fact that the hotel only has 10 rooms. Fortunately (or not), we managed to book for 2 nights during this recovery period from COVID, and the experience at The Mustang Blu was one of the most unique ones I have ever had.||The Mustang Blu is conveniently located nearby the MRT station, with parking space available 5-min walk from the hotel, and within walking distance to Chinatown. Me and my partner are usually not crazy with taking too many pictures during the trip as we would rather enjoy a trip organically without interference of technologies. However, we just could not keep our hands off our cameras, due to the photogenic design and interiors of the hotel.||Taking cautious steps while walking on the squeaky wooden floor at night (or even day time) was also a fun thing.||The breakfast set (change daily) offered at The Mustang Blu Cafe was also great to the eyes, and yummy to our palate. Special thanks to Khun Jetsada Tiwani (ą¹ąøąø©ąøąø² ąøąø“วารี) for his friendly and attentive service at the cafe, who sincerely presented himself as a representative of The Mustang Blu. ||The dinner experience however, was not as impressive as the other aspects, as the items (we ordered a prawn bisque each and two main courses) arrived at almost same time, so by the time we could enjoy our main courses, they were already cold. There were also too much salt in the prawn bisque, unfortunately. While the cafe offers a range of Coffee & Tea, Italian Soda, Juices, and Cocktails, we initially ordered a Negroni and a Floral Tea, but then it got quite weird that they could not provide us with a single soda or other soft drinks afterwards, as rejected by the service staff during dinner. You must select the listed items from the drinks menu, and no soda/soft drinks were listed.||All in all, great stay, amazing design, friendly staff, good quality food, and tons of pictures to be taken. ||Till next time,...
