Great location, but terrible service. I will never introduce my clients to this hotel again.
The only good thing about this hotel is its central location in Bangkok. However, the service has declined to an unacceptable level, making it impossible to continue recommending this place.
For the past 20 years, I have been booking this hotel for my clients through Montien’s own sales department, using my company’s name under my clients' names—not as a tour guide. Despite this long-standing relationship, the recent experience was beyond frustrating.
Check-in Chaos & Slow Service
The check-in and check-out process is painfully slow. There are three counters, but only one is actually functioning. If a staff member faces an issue, they call another staff member, making the process even slower. The reception area is also crowded with tour groups receiving welcome drinks, causing unnecessary congestion. There is no effort to guide guests to a more spacious area, making the check-in experience a complete mess.
Ridiculous Deposit Policy
Even after paying for the room with a credit card, I was still required to pay an additional deposit due to a nonsensical policy change. When I asked why, the response was: "Some guests take hotel amenities with them."
However, I have always booked under my company’s name, and for 20 years, there has never been a single issue. Even if the hotel's management has changed, that is not the customer’s problem. Treating long-term, loyal guests the same as random visitors is completely unacceptable.
Unfair Parking Policy – Does This Apply to Staying Guests Too?
The biggest issue was the new parking policy. Previously, parking was free all day, but now it is limited to three hours for drop-off vehicles.
I asked the front desk: "Isn't parking free?" Their response: "For drop-off vehicles, only three hours."
I then pointed out: "It used to be free all day, right?" They simply replied: "The hotel policy has changed."
DOES THIS APPLY TO GUESTS ARRIVING BY CAR TOO?
If a hotel guest arrives in their own car, do they also get only three hours of free parking? That would be nonsense.
I am not a tour guide who simply drops off guests and leaves. After checking in my clients, I accompany them for massages, dining, and shopping, all of which require more than three hours. Why should I be treated any differently from a staying guest?
And for all this, the hotel only offers three hours of free parking? Even Starbucks gives a three-hour stamp for a 120-baht coffee!
Final Verdict
If the hotel had changed its name, I could understand a new policy. But if they keep the same name while secretly changing policies, they should clearly announce these changes instead of letting customers find out at the last minute.
At this point, there is no reason to continue recommending this hotel to my clients. They have no respect for long-term guests, and their service continues to deteriorate.

Read moreThis was our last stop for our Thailand trip. Foyer is big and beautiful with great reception staff. Checkin was done slowly antiquated way and we were given a bell with key to our 2 rooms and a little book with slips that had our names. We were asked to leave key at reception when we go out and claim it back with the slip. Walking to our room was like walking in ship. The rooms were very clean however was antique. Carpets are well worn out. Toiletries provided and linen was fresh. We had a great first night discovering Patapong night market just opposite the hotel. Besides it this place is well known for go-go bars and night club, which is directly opposite the hotel. Second night was when somebody walked to my girls room, used a key with bell and opened their door. Lucky they heard the bell on the key because they were awake and the door chain was on and it jangled. They jumped slammed it shut, telling me only the next morning. Stuff happens so we cautioned our girls the next night -jammed chair on door of adjoining their room and I made sure door chain was on and locked before I went to my room. My daughter texted me at 12.20 their door was opened again second night in a room and just left. My husband and I rushed out. Nono was in corridor, I went to reception to see nobody there. However a guy in fire exit called the night manager ( till today I wondered what he was doing there). It took good 7-10 minutes to get his team up to my girls room who were badly shaken with the events. We were convinced someone had key to the room so the girls were moved to adjoining room to us. The connecting doors were opened much to my relief. There were no security camera in level 5 corridor. One points only to lift however just beyond the lift is a huge fire exit and housekeeping place with staircase thus anybody could walk-in and out via that. Though the management was apologetic, and catered by moving my girls to a room next to us which was far better, nothing came out from their investigation. This left us all unsettled and extremely shaken. It’s not hard to think what would have happened if the girls did not notice the door ajar. Security is lax and it seemed deliberate. Please think carefully before booking any hotel with young kids. I have indeed leant my lesson. Pay more have adjoining rooms not even opposite...
