Cape Fahn is an island off an island – a private resort about 150m away from the shore of Koh Samui which provides a unique experience and I can recommend it. The hotel was recently opened in 2018 so everything is still in great condition and fairly modern. When staying at Cape Fahn a lot of what we pay for is the location, however we should be aware that it’s not the best place for sea views unless booking the highest room types. During our stay we were the only guests out of 22 villas so we had the whole island all to ourselves – it was a fantastic experience which might not be repeated again in our lifetime. I would also note that dining was excellent and worth a detour even for people who are not guests of the hotel.
We stayed in a deluxe pool villa which had partial sea views on the right side which were nice but not as impressive as some other hotels on the main island. The villa was in good condition with pleasing soft color tones and a large 10-meter long private pool which also had a section to sit down with jacuzzi jets for a back massage. While the resort itself could hardly be more private, if the hotel had been full it would possibly not be as private as one can imagine because the villas are somewhat close to each other and we could see the pathway or the entrance door of some neighboring villas if moving to the edge of our pool or our terrace. As in many worthy luxury hotels they had an extensive pillow menu and air conditioning was powerful so we could sleep very well during our stay. The bathroom amenities available in the room were nothing to write home about but the artisan soap selection available at check-in for various skin types was definitely a nice feature which we appreciated.
Breakfast was offered in the main restaurant entirely a la carte and this was definitely a stand-out. The menu was very extensive and allowed a lot of variety from one morning to another to sample different dishes; we could order whatever we wanted from the menu. The presentation was excellent and the quality was very good – this is the kind of breakfast which is worth for non-hotel guests to come over to enjoy the food and the venue as well.
As can be imagined, service was flawless during our stay since we had the entire staff all to ourselves. Given our interactions I suspect service would also be excellent at this property in times of high occupancy.
Cape Fahn is a one of a kind hotel with unique strengths quite different from Four Seasons and has clear value as part of alternative options in Koh Samui. One observation however is that their cash rates when booking via Hyatt or SLH are three times higher than booking direct at the moment so it calls into question to what extent they are really part of a loyalty program. Anyway I would not be opposed to returning even if booking direct however because of the amazing location which is really what we pay for when staying...
Read moreThe hotel is located on the outlying islands of Koh Samui. The so-called outlying islands are actually 200 meters away at low tide. Usually, when the water level is high, it is very convenient to use a ferry boat or a shuttle bus on call. There is a row of restaurants on the opposite side of the hotel, and the price is of course very reasonable. But in fact, the hotel's own restaurant has a happy hour with drinks until 9 pm, 183B has a high-value cocktail, and other drinks are also half price, which is very cost-effective. There are a total of 22 villas in the hotel. The villa I booked can open the door of the bedroom and is the swimming pool. The hotel is new and well decorated. Every day the hotel will send a lot of snacks and 🈶️ different gifts. On New Year's Eve, the hotel gave a bottle of champagne, a lot of desserts, and 🈶️ all kinds of souvenirs, which is really amazing. Although the hotel's breakfast restaurant is small, the food is different every day. There are freshly ground soy milk, 5 kinds of freshly squeezed juices, and 4 kinds of milk. You can also order meals. Anyway, I really cook every dish with care. This is really during the epidemic. Too few, most hotels really have the same breakfast every day. If you lie down by the pool in the afternoon, the hotel waiter will continue to pour water for you to make snacks in the kitchen, which is very similar to the four seasons.🚗 Transportation: Richard Beach is a 9-minute drive away. For a villa hotel, this hotel is the best hotel in the location. If you want to be a hermit, you can leave the island. If you want to leave the hotel and take a ferry, there are various horses and chickens and restaurants opposite.🧹Hygiene: I feel a little sloppy, and I don’t know if there are not enough staff🍃Environment: One island, one hotel, needless to say the environment🔔Service: Service with a smile, the lady at the front desk is...
Read moreA very nice small boutique hotel, it can be considered as being alone on an outlying island, about 100m away from the opposite shore, and you need to take a ferry boat. The hotel room design is very good, the facilities are also very new, the standard is obviously higher than the ordinary five-star hotel, and it is a level higher than the luxury collection that I stayed in later. The indoor area is about 100 square meters, and there is a large swimming pool and garden outside, and the beach is directly outside the garden. The attitude of the service staff is very good. There are not many varieties of breakfast, but the taste is very good. I had dinner at the beach restaurant, which tasted very good. It cost about 2,000 baht for two people. The biggest disadvantage of the hotel should be that the beach is too small, only tens of meters long, and the sand quality is still very good, very fine, so it’s no problem to step on it with bare feet, but since the opposite bank is a public beach used by many hotel restaurants, there are many foreigners. The seawater and the beach are polluted to varying degrees, and there are a lot of debris, which is a pity. In addition, the intervals between the villas are made of wood, and the intervals are not very dense. You can see the movement of the villas next to you, and the privacy is not very good.In general, it is still recommended to stay for 2-3 days, because the hotel itself is very small and there are no entertainment activities, it will be boring if you stay for a long time. For dinner, you can take the hotel's boat to the opposite side. There is a row of high-end and low-end hotels on the opposite side. There are many restaurants, massage bars, etc....
