Dar El Bhar, nestled in the historic center of Hammamet, left me with lasting memories of this picturesque coastal town. This guest house offers a delightful blend of tradition and modernity, all while showcasing stunning views of the sea.
Dar El Bhar's location is its biggest asset. Situated between the modern allure of Yasmin Hammamet and the timeless charm of Nabeul, it offers the perfect balance for travelers looking to explore both old and new. The proximity to the sea is unbeatable, allowing you to wake up to the sound of waves and enjoy beautiful sunsets.
The rooms in this guest house are cozy and comfortable, each with a unique charm. While they may not be overly luxurious, they provide all the essentials for a pleasant stay. The sea-view rooms are a real treat, offering a sense of tranquility that's hard to find elsewhere.
The staff at Dar El Bhar are friendly and attentive, always ready to assist with a warm smile. They can help you plan your day, arrange excursions, or provide recommendations for local dining and activities, making you feel like a welcomed guest.
While the guest house offers the basics, it lacks some of the modern amenities you might find in larger hotels. However, this is compensated for by the authentic atmosphere and character of the...
Read moreI reserved by WhatsApp phone messages since they don’t seem to recognize reservation websites. All went well until arrival. The place looked appealing, but the gentleman who showed me around, unshaven, unkempt and smelling of cigarettes, declared that he was only “opening” one bedroom. I told him I had reserved the entire place and at no time did he mention price is dependent on number of guests, and he had not asked. In fact we were two persons and needed two bedrooms. He showed me a room with a bunk bed next to the kitchen and called it a bedroom. I told him that I had no time nor patience to negotiate, repeated that I had reserved the entire house for the price, that the bunk bed “room” was not acceptable as it looked like a converted storage room in the back of the kitchen. Everything went south from there: he became verbally aggressive, told me to take it or leave it, and so I left.
A disappointing experience. No place however pretty-looking is worth the uncomfortable feeling that you are being scammed and disrespected. Unfortunately this town suffers from over-tourism.
Luckily, Tunisia is awash with beautiful locations. Scratched this one - a tourist trap -...
Read moreHad a blast staying at Dar el Bhar's place. This treasure is located in the medina of Hammamet, easy access from coffee Sidi Bou Hdid, walkable to attractions and restaurants. The flat was sparkling clean and had all the essentials. Rooms with unique decor and sculptures, kitchen with all items you’d need, the beds were comfy, great shower, the jetted bath was great bonus. There's a gorgeous view of the beach and an amazing rooftop to watch the sunset. Friendly and attentive staff, and the cleaning lady came in the morning and made us a delicious breakfast. It definitely makes the top list of hosts in...
