The restaurant is nice, spacious and clean. Before the main dish, they serve some complimentary appetisers which were tasty. The food (main dish) was not bad but nothing special, just ok. The fries were good, the only real crispy fries we have had so far in Tunisia. Main issue was the service : the waiters were many and were walking around to look at the plates, it was overdone to the point where it was uncomfortable. I was asked twice if I was done with my food while I was still eating, the second time the waiter even touched the plate. Moreover, I still had food in the small appetisers plates and they wanted to take it while I was still eating from them. Probably this is how the waiters are trained, so it is not their fault and they were nice as well. But the service was stressful and I felt rushed.

Extra points for not allowing smoking inside the restaurant! And also for the nice presentation...

Un chef-d’œuvre culinaire au cœur de Hammamet

Le restaurant Lella Fatma est bien plus qu’un simple établissement : c’est une véritable perle rare, une fierté pour Hammamet et, au-delà, pour toute la Tunisie.

C’est suite aux excellents avis lus en ligne que nous avons décidé de réserver — et quelle merveilleuse décision ! Dès l’appel, l’accueil a été des plus chaleureux. Cette phrase pourrait résumer notre expérience : « le plaisir de vous recevoir comme chez vous ».

À notre arrivée, nous avons été accueillis par un monsieur d’une grande gentillesse. Il faisait très chaud dehors et, spontanément, il nous a offert une bouteille d’eau fraîche. Ce simple geste en dit long sur l’attention portée aux clients. À l’intérieur, la salle climatisée et le fond musical délicat créaient une ambiance paisible et raffinée.

La carte est une belle alliance de saveurs tunisiennes et internationales. En entrée, nous avons opté pour les bricks à l’œuf : une pâte maison, croustillante et non grasse, des œufs coulants à souhait, une farce savoureuse, et ce petit quartier de citron qui sublime le tout. C’était tellement bon que l’idée d’en recommander une deuxième s’est imposée d’elle-même mais, nous avons laissé de la place pour le reste 😅 !

Puis est arrivé le moment fort : le couscous au mérou. Nous voyageons souvent, et pourtant, c’était sans doute le meilleur couscous que nous ayons jamais goûté. Une semoule fine, travaillée à la main, légère et fondante. La sauce, parfaitement épicée, accompagnait à merveille un poisson fondant et goûteux à souhait. Un plat d’exception.

Côté dessert, le cheesecake était à l’image des plats précédents : raffiné, équilibré, irrésistible… si bien que nous en avons eu l’envie de prendre un second, nous avons résisté.

Le service tout au long du repas a été tellement attentionné et chaleureux que l’idée même de quitter les lieux devenait difficile. En guise de conclusion, un délicieux thé à la menthe, si agréable que j’en ai redemandé un deuxième, pour prolonger encore un peu ce moment suspendu.

Lella Fatma, ce n’est pas qu’un restaurant, c’est une philosophie, une expérience sensorielle et humaine unique en Tunisie.

At the end of a meal I ordered a fruit salad to take away, advertised as Fruit salad for two persons, when I got home I realised this is what we got… £5 for two bruised and almost fermenting apples, a bruised and fermenting plum and 4 kiwi which were relatively fine, This is not a fruit salad, not worth £5. We had already left a 20% tip for the meal so I’m additionally unhappy.

The steak and mushroom dish was excellent and the chicken and mushroom sauce was lovely too. The offered complementary mint tea at the end...
