Mateo — Hotel in Üsküdar

Our experience at Mateo Hotel Istanbul was extremely disappointing. We visited the hotel in person to book two rooms and agreed on a price with a staff member. When we went to pay, they suddenly changed the prices, wasting our time and causing confusion.||Later, a family member received a WhatsApp message claiming we had agreed to €119 per night for a superior room—the highest category in the hotel—which completely contradicted what we were told in person. This was misleading and dishonest.||Communication was also a major issue. The only person who speaks English is the owner’s daughter , who unfortunately is not professional and clearly lacks experience. It made resolving the situation even more frustrating.||The only positive aspect of the stay was the kitchen team, who were kind and hardworking. My 3 night experience in the mateo hotel was horrendous from the moment we arrived, the service was unprofessional and dismissive. The staff seemed uninterested in helping guests they were rude and very disrespectful, to make things worse when we came to check out we discovered charges of water and coffee that was brought to the room which no one told us was chargeable and when we refused to pay since we had no idea we should pay they threatened us to get the police. Rooms had no soundproof walls we could hear everything happening which limited our sleep. Overall, this hotel demonstrated not only poor service but also dishonest practices. Very disappointing experience

Small room, very very hot, almost stifling, and also very very noisy due to its proximity to the reception. There is no soundproofing at all, we hear all the noises without exception (phone ringing, conversations from the receptionist, footsteps on the stairs, guests from the next room making love, etc...). Impossible to sleep in such conditions (heat, mosquitoes, noise), it was a truly terrible experience! In addition, their bank card reading device does not work, so it is impossible to pay by card 👎👎
