I loved Turkiye for beach holidays and had always fancied Istanbul but never got around to it . As a football fan when Manchester United played a Turkish team galatasaray there I saw an ideal opportunity. I booked Nelly guest house as the location seemed ideal for getting around the city with everything I needed locally, I got a coach from airport to taksim square and unsure of my bearings the host actually came to meet me and we walked back thru Istanbul shopping area and streets she showed me places of note, guest house is set in a residential area just off the Main Street with a number of local shops 2 mins walk away, a great Irish bar just thru the underpass worth a visit on the top of main drag. Upon arrival I was asked to take my shoes off, it was a feeling of walking in someone home and this is exactly what it is !! These people treated me like family for four nights and couldn’t do enough to help whether it was a card for local metro or offer of a local simcard to help with the expensive roaming charges for uk folk!!
