What she did not realize is that central Istanbul is old and unless you want to pay $300-$400 a night, you are going to get an older hotel. We both however agreed on one thing. Our room, although old and a bit tacky, was immaculately clean. My wife was disappointed by the neighborhood (which in all honesty is lower end of Taksim), I saw the potential and the newly renovated boutique hotels and the many places to eat a good meal.
