A Must-Visit Rooftop Gem in Taksim!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Gönen Ocakbaşı Rooftop Restaurant in Taksim, and it exceeded all my expectations! From the moment we arrived, the warm and welcoming atmosphere, combined with the stunning rooftop view of Istanbul, set the perfect tone for the evening.

We started with a selection of mezze, all freshly prepared and bursting with flavor. The standout for me was the hummus and the grilled halloumi. For the main course, we opted for the Adana kebab and lamb chops, both grilled to perfection right in front of us on the open ocakbaşı. The spices were perfectly balanced, and the meat was incredibly tender and juicy. You could tell the chefs here are true masters of their craft.

The service was attentive but never intrusive. Our server was happy to explain the different dishes and even recommended a delicious Turkish wine that paired perfectly with our meal. The ambiance was another highlight. As we dined, the view of Istanbul at sunset was simply breathtaking, making the experience even more memorable.

The only downside was that the restaurant was quite busy, but the lively energy just added to the experience. I would definitely recommend making a reservation if you’re planning to visit during peak hours.

I was on this rooftop on my first day in Istanbul. I could not do a better choice. You really have a 360° view of the city, with all its lights, plus a romantic view of the New Mosque near here. The service was 🔝, they really took care of me in all my requests. The food and the drinks are very enjoyable as well. Plus, a waiter (unfortunately I do not remember his name) offered to explain what I could see from the rooftop. He also took some pictures of me from there, so I could have the memory. He was very kind. I wanted to come back in the next days, but unfortunately I couldn't. I want to thank you from here, for making my first night in Istanbul undeletable....
