Our worst stay in Istanbul. I don't know who are the people who've rated the hotel so high. In my opinion, it is the worst stay in every way. We were given a room on 4th floor(402). The room is sooo tiny that after a twin bed and a tv and small cupboard. There is literally no space to walk around. Fyi: we had to keep our bags in the balcony! Which I think is completely unnecessary because there is no view from the balcony. We could only see a demolished building and hear some pigeon sounds at night. Nothing is soundproof and there was so much noise all the time. Cannot stay here for more than one day. The manager is very weird and kept bothering us for a hairdryer he couldn't find. This was to such an extend that while we were waiting for our taxi after checkout we had to walk far away just to get rid of the manager. I even ofered him compensation money a few times but he denied to accept it. The breakfast is average, staircase is super narrow and very difficult to carry bags all the way...
Read moreWalked into the hotel and was greeted by Hadi.. immediately, his warmth, kindness and charisma stood out in our first time in Istanbul. The room was very clean and neat, and the hotel was situated close to many of the tourist attractions and old city areas, we truly had an authentic experience. The hotel management and hospitality, their initiative to help us navigate through the city, did not make us feel like foreigners, rather, made us feel like we were welcomed into a family’s home, immersing us within old Istanbul to fully experience its beauty, without feeling confused or unsure as to what to do. I highly recommend La Mer Old City Hotel for anyone interested in exploring the attractions of Istanbul, but most importantly, for those seeking an authentic cultural experience.. where sightseeing and culture are experienced as one, resonating with both the heart...
Read moreDo not stay at this hotel. Although our room was ok, although extremely small, our friends in our group were allocated an even smaller room with offensive smells rising out of bathroom. Room 402. We were all charged $180 per night which is highly inflated for what we got. We booked 3 days with a 2 day break while we travelled to Cappadocia and then returned for a 2 night stay. We were literally bribed by hotel manager to give a good review (at least 9 out of 10), on the promise no-one on our party would be allocated Room 402 on our return. These good reviews were false but nobody wanted to risk staying in this room again on our return, so reluctantly made them. Unfortunately the Hotel Manager reneged on his promise and allocated this room again to one of our group. They refused to stay and a room was provided at their other hotel which was not...
