We stayed at the Fresco for just over a week in October with a half-board package.
I’ve broken down the review into the most important points for me, so everyone can take away what’s relevant. In short: Our holiday was a 10/10, which is well deserving of 5 stars.
Location: The hotel is situated above Ürgüp, offering a stunning view over the town. The center is easily reachable on foot and has everything you might need. Tip: At the coordinates 38.6362662, 34.9018452, there’s a small private road where you can take beautiful photos under an arched bridge and enjoy a lovely view without any tourists.
Room: Our room (No. 109) was gorgeous and unique. The bed was almost too big for me! It was always warm in the room, even when temperatures dropped below zero at night, and we kept the heating off. The cave walls retain warmth well. I’m not sure how it would be in summer, but I imagine it keeps the room cool similarly. The two sofas were quite firm, which I actually found surprisingly comfortable. Towels were changed twice a week, and the bed was made daily (even if we had already made it, it was always neatly folded). The floors weren’t cleaned, but key areas like the WC and bed were always spotless.
Service: The staff were consistently friendly and often asked how we were doing or if we needed anything. When we spontaneously decided to book a balloon tour one evening, Murat and Volkan quickly helped us arrange everything. Some staff members spoke little to no English, but this wasn’t an issue because everyone was very friendly and always eager to help.
Cleanliness: Ürgüp and the surrounding area are quite dusty due to the canyons and mountains, which is worth noting. The hotel was swept and damp-cleaned daily. Everything was spotless, which is impressive given the environment. We only used the wellness area once, but it was very clean as well. The water seemed to contain little chlorine, at least as far as I noticed.
Food and Drink: Breakfast was prepared for us every morning. Although it was always the same, it was so plentiful that you could eat different items each day. The only variation was a plate with occasional extras like roasted vegetables or mini börek, and you could choose between cheese omelet, sucuk and eggs, etc. I look at this from two perspectives: on one hand, the selection is great, and everything looks appealing; on the other, there’s so much food that inevitably goes to waste because no one can finish it all.
Dinner was served at the "Deve Hani" restaurant, where we were mainly looked after by Hüsseyin. We initially worried that we might regret not trying some of the other restaurants around, but we don’t regret it one bit. The food was amazing, and when my wife spontaneously mentioned she was vegetarian on the first night, it was no problem. Our table was always set, and the staff even remembered where we liked to sit and reserved the same table each time—very thoughtful. Dinner included a soup, salad, bread with dips, a main course, and a fruit plate for dessert. The dishes were always varied, delicious, and offered a healthy take on traditional cuisine.
The hotel also offers a lovely terrace with service and massages, which we didn’t use.
Would I come back? Definitely yes. It has its little quirks, but that’s part of the charm: the homey feel, the old dog dozing in the lobby, the hotel owner engaging in a friendly conversation, or the manager waving over at dinner to ask if...

My daughter and I recently had the pleasure of staying at a truly remarkable hotel in Cappadocia, and our experience was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived, we felt a warm and welcoming atmosphere that set the tone for our entire stay.
One of the highlights was being lucky enough to receive an upgrade to the 700-year-old cave suite. This unique accommodation was both luxurious and steeped in history, providing a perfect blend of modern comfort and ancient charm. It was an unforgettable experience to sleep in such a beautifully preserved piece of history.
The hotel’s spa and pool center were a haven of relaxation. The serene environment and stunning design offered the perfect respite after our days of exploring.
The views from the hotel were breathtaking, with panoramic vistas that showcased the natural beauty of Cappadocia. Each morning, we were treated to a Turkish breakfast that featured a wide variety of delicious options.
The staff at the hotel were exceptional. A special mention goes to Vulcan, whose kindness and attentiveness made a significant impact on our experience. He truly made us feel at home and well taken care of.
For those seeking an authentic and peaceful retreat away from the busier areas like Goreme, I highly recommend this hotel. It offers a unique and tranquil experience that is hard to find elsewhere. We left feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and filled with wonderful memories...
Read moreFive stars all the way, not a single doubt about it! We were early before standard checkin time and Elias from front office welcomed us with a smile and accomodated us with rooms in a jiffy. He along with Volkan were available throughout our stay to ensure that we had a memorable time at Fresco. The 26 keys are a mix of caves and non-caves rooms each with its own charms and so beautifully attired. The breakfast was buffet on your table with a choice of eggs prepared your way. Absolutely fresh fruits, salads, cheese, breads to accompany the eggs. We availed the in-house spa and were astounded by the local expert spa ataff for a truly mesmerizing turkish hammam experience. The pool, sauna, steam, shock shower are all inclided in the room stay and wonderful. Elias and Volkan were ready to assist again with a room change due to a minor issue and pack a healthy breakfast as we were leaving very early for a flight so couldnt have the breakfast in the restaurant. Overall kudos to the wonderful team and propreitors at Fresco to deliver such a beautiful 100+ years elegant property for us tourists for a truly...
