We had just moved into our forever house but had problems with the drains and they tried to sort Monday & Tuesday by the following Tuesday our association had decided to moved us in to a Hotel . ||Asked which hotel we preferred we said anything central / city Aberdeen so they phoned us to tell us that 7 days had been booked at The Copthorne Hotel . ||Our arrival date was 4/6/25 2 people for 7 days meaning our last day 11/6/25 .||We arrived at reception a pretty standard welcome told our room was 320 on the 3rd floor was not told anything about hotel ie ; where was the restaurant, bar, public toilets ??? Timings !! ||We arrived at room okay but only 1 biscuit for 2 people?? never changed in 7 days yes only one . various sizes of towels delivered when needed . bed not that comfy pillows rubbish , in fact the mattress didn't fit the bed and moved every time you moved ??(see photo) No air conditioning?? in room or even around the hotel must have lost some weight in the 7 days , is this standard for a so called 3 star hotel . We unpack and go for evening meal , we had looked at menu in room so we had an idea what we were having, I asked for the tandoori cod loin and my wife said I'll have the same , the waitress said sorry no Cod tonight . tried 5 nights and NEVER Ever managed to taste that dish ??? Aberdeen has a Harbour and fish market how can we not get cod loin here !!! Do not put on menu if you can't get it or at right price !! So my wife said I'll have steak & ale puff pie ,I had 10oz rump steak ( m/rare) served with tomato, grilled mushroom(1) chunky chips ,pea shoots and french fried onion rings (3) stone cold & very greasy !! also ordered whisky sauce(ok) steak cooked ok but a big piece of fat/ sinu running through the middle of the steak ( maybe cut wrong ) wife said pie quite tasty garnish yet again pea shoots . ||We had not had lunch so I was the only one to have, I was hungry so I had dessert, I had the mars bar sundae it come 5 pieces of mars bar / banana ice cream/ whipped cream topped with warm toffee sauce lovely lots of it to . Didn't sleep that between no curtains only a blind also the heat of the room !! opened window made no difference. asked for breakfast at 5am the next day as I was still working, reception said don't know what it will be but I will get something. Day 2 I go down for my breakfast 5am got handed a plastic box with everything in it / cereal bar / fruit/ mini croissant/ mini pain au Chocolat / yoghurt that will do nicely. my wife had breakfast in restaurant standard buffet breakfast nothing special. We go for evening meal again NO Cod loin ! We were not that hungry so both of us had pasta ( probably the cheapest dish on the menu ) priced at £16 but actually quite nice I had fettuccine carbonara my wife mac n cheese with crispy bacon no desserts as both full. ||Day 3 breakfast at 5 am brilliant on a tray fresh fruit/ yoghurt/ fruit juice(2) / 2 mini croissants/ 2 mini pain au Chocolat amazing and both porters so nice . ||Evening meal it's Friday so we want Fish !! again Cod loin NO . so we both order fish n chips , it's comes peas freezing on both plates chips ok , fish two bits each wives a wee bits and thinner than mine / I cut in to mine fine at tail but not cooked at bloodline area quite dangerous as most infections come for blood in fish , Paul the operations manager comes across was everything ok I said peas stone cold and this part of the fish translucent not white fish grey either frozen fish ( very cheap) or passed it's best. !! Paul says I will go and see the Chef !! comes back with a STORY about it being cooked at 82degrees yes right I ask to see form I was refused and told WHY was I an expert show my guild of chefs membership card and tell him I was a Chef of 41 years started at 14 years old and I was a Head Chef by the time I was 25 so basically I KNOW what I'm speaking about !! So I said we agree to disagree on that matter. To my surprise when I go to sign the bill 1 of our fishes where removed and both of our sticky toffee puddings were complementary too, SO who is in the wrong a bit of guilt eh !! Day 4 go down for breakfast both of us and basically get ignored from all the staff apart from the nice waitress from first day Nikola absolutely lovely , staff meeting everybody must have been told about me anyway !!! Is this the way the Hotel is ran in 7 days never seen general manager once , helping his staff, welcoming the tours or guest to the restaurant!! WHY ?? he's part of the team that runs the Hotel yeah ?? We seen Operations manager abuse a black member of staff by telling him " get out of my way " again is this the way you run a Hotel ? ||There was 3 tours on when we were there and seamed to get better service than us !! As breakfast not topped up that well after tours had destroyed it . My wife waited 10 mins for yoghurt, I waited 5-8 mins for pancake mix to fill machine !! No choice of eggs scrambled like or lump it , where was the veggie/ vegan choices , no separate tongs ?? scrambled egg finished I wait the Cook comes out with more says nothing very frosty!! Saturday evening meal my wife katsu chicken/ rice/ but salad on plate warm salad limp and cooked salad , I had the shin of beef cause yet again NO cod loin ?? the best meal I had but still had some faults!! waited ages as tour had yet again just finished . desserts my wife mars bar sundae , banana ice cream ,whipped cream 4 bits of mars on top not a lot of toffee sauce ?? mine homemade white chocolate and strawberry cheesecake ( the dessert of the week ) ok but not the nicest cheesecake I have ever had , and portion size tiny for £8 maybe made whole cheesecake for that price ?? not great !!||Day 5 breakfast both of us again a bit frosty staff told to only sit up in a certain area , tour just finished !! A wiped out again breakfast buffet , fruit, yoghurt not any cooked food not much left and what was left dried out especially the black pudding as hard as a brick , yet again I had to ask for pancakes as mix was finished , my wife gets the last of the scrambled eggs but just as we sit down with hot food a couple of females appear and ask for breakfast get coffee and fruit but ask Paul can we have hot food "yes of course " would like fried, poached or scrambled eggs on lady says 2 poached eggs the other fried eggs really !! I had asked on the Friday night about poached eggs and was told "No" yet again favouritism among staff and customers!!||Standards , standards yeah !!Sunday night went out for roast dinner cheaper and so so so much better than hotel !! 100% ||Day 6 breakfast at 5am again amazing a freshly made sandwich as well as the other things Wife said buffet was ok .||Went to restaurant for evening meal . waitress comes across , soup of the day tomato but no main course special no dessert of the day, no Cod loin, no chicken so I say so what is left on the menu ? The waitress goes away and hands her pad to somebody else to take our order really could she not handle a statement on the lack of choices on the menu !!! well trained staff ??? desserts me mars bar sundae my wife sticky pudding , mars bar sundae only 2:pieces of mars , vanilla ice cream ?? bought in toffee sauce not warm and not enough of it standards!!!! Only staff that get pass marks are Partiyk and Kamil night porters and as I have said before waitress Nikola all got tips at the end .||Day 7 my last day breakfast at 5am for the 3rd time nobody had passed on that I needed my breakfast at 5am but nothing a problem fresh cooked pastries fruit yoghurt fruit juice(2) loved it hot pastries yum, my wife buffet breakfast empty again so just had little plates , if we had been paying for it ourselves I would had demanded more choices to fill up .I go to work as normal , my wife takes a call from our association saying book another 2 days in Copthorne but they said they are full what a lot of BS and as my wife is leaving she is basically getting pushed out by members of staff including " Paul" helping into my daughters car really can't wait to get rid of us cause we complained once over 7 days and all staff told about it !! ||In summary very average 3 ?? star hotel||very average staff , very average room , mattress not fitting bed , 1 teaspoon, 1 biscuit for 2 people , on last couple days no bath towel ?? No curtains daylight 3 am night time 10pm had to wear a eye mask to sleep No air conditioning when hot outside ||Will never stay there or any of your Millennium hotels ever again .||Was moved to a so called budget hotel , room perfect, staff brilliant, food great and room lower price too !! I would like a full and detailed explanation about all the points I have raised !! A copy to Head Office ||Copy to General Manager Jamie ||just in case this review is removed from this site , as they should be embarrassed by this review . Please...
Read moreThis is a honest review of our experience of this hotel upon booking this hotel via a reputable gift experience firm it stated that this hotel had parking available very unusual in a city centre hotel however it turns out there is no parking available now as they had stopped it a couple of years prior as they only had a couple of limited spaces available under the hotel after making the hotel aware that we had booked with parking they went out of there way to accommodate us with a parking spot a very positive approach from the hotel we were given room 402 a lovely very large room which was very clean and well presented the only negative points of this room is there is no mirror in the bedroom area only in the bathroom not ideal for my wife for doing her makeup and hair with electrical items also the room was extremely warm.|Also as we try to be environmentally friendly we did not ask for the room to be cleaned or replenished however we ran out of coffee and sugar and when we asked at reception they struggled to supply the basics it would be prudent to have some available at reception for guests to pick up if necessary ok now for the really negative point and that is the breakfast which is charged at £8.99 each this has to be the worst breakfast I have every come across in all my years of travel we asked at reception about a vegetarian cooked breakfast option to be told that there was however it turns out there isn’t we found the selection to be really poor even for me a meat eater so when we asked the staff about it my wife was asked if she would like a meatball or burger for here breakfast really not acceptable I could have gone around the corner to local pub chain and got everything I wanted for half the price also I think when people check out your reception staff should ask you if you had a good stay so these comments could be addressed immediately rather than have to leave a...
Read moreAnother return visit to this hotel, because I can't think of a hotel I'd rather use in Aberdeen. |It's right in the city centre, a three minute walk to the bright lights and excitement if Aberdeen's "Union Street", but removed juuuust enough to be exceedingly relaxed and quiet...and bang in the middle of a cluster of fantastic restaurants/eateries.||The hotel itself is well maintained and clean, with modern, spacious rooms and exceedingly comfortable beds. ||The bar offers a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere, and I think we've spent a portion of most of our days at the hotel just chilling there with a drink or two. ||We've only ever eaten breakfast in the restaurant, but that's a reflection of the hotel's location more than anything else. The breakfast offerings are glorious, running the full variety of Continental and cooked options, importantly including the elusive haggis...|The staff at breakfast are a delight, always a breath of fresh, cheery air and always willing to help. Ladda was like a whirlwind of morning joy, sorting out our egg requests with aplomb. It was particularly nice to be remembered from our infrequent visits, too...the last of which was certainly too long ago.|We're certainly going to have to eat an evening meal in the restaurant when we return, though.||All the staff you'll encounter are more than helpful and hit the perfect level of attentiveness.||I can't recommend the place enough. We've never had any issues here, and, importantly, we've never left feeling...
