Just...wow!
Acorn Lodge is about a 5-10 minute walk from the centre of Harrogate, but it feels like a million miles away! We walked to it from the station, through the town and up lovely tree-lined avenues to the quiet road that it is situated on. The property is a large, double fronted Victorian house with many original features, so don't expect a lift to take you to your room as this would totally spoil the lodge! Our room was at the top of the house, with a large window overlooking the front courtyard and road. I say 'road', but it is pretty much a cul-de-sac and I didn't actually see or hear any cars moving along it.
The facilities were great. Tea and coffee, iron, hairdryer and toiletries; everything you need. The only improvement that could be made is the temperature and power of the shower; though in the grand scheme of things, the shower really was okay. I just like very hot, hard showers! The breakfast was wonderful, served in a light and airy room donwstairs. The variety was fantastic, and the sausages were spot on - something that even the best hotels can sometimes struggle with.
Last but my no means least, our hosts. What a wonderful family! They made us feel right at home, they were attentive enough that we knew we could ask questions, but they weren't hanging around waiting. As we were leaving (something we really didn't want to do!) they were happy to give us tips on where the best afternoon tea could be found, the best walks as well as places to visit.
Next time we come to Harrogate, this is where we will be staying -...
Read moreThis has to be one of the best B&B's I have ever stayed in, The owners were extremely friendly and informative, right down to giving a detailed history of the house! The bedrooms were immaculately tidy, the beds themselves are near perfect, not too hard and not too soft, exactly what you need for an excellent night's sleep, the bathroom was brilliant, fully equipped, including a spa bath! ( this is unusual in a B&B of this size). Breakfast is a delight, full English breakfast that is cooked to order and takes into account any dietary requirements that you may have. They have an extensive range of gluten free options from toast to cereal and fruit which can all be washed down with a smooth fresh orange juice or a large pot of tea or a cafetiere of fresh coffee. Outside there is free parking on the road from 6pm to 9am this can be extended to 12pm midday by speaking to the owners. Overall, this B&B is a must if you are staying...
Read moreThis is a stunning property in an ideal location. My extended family of 10 spent a wonderful two weeks here as we explored Harrogate, the Yorkshire Dales, the North York Moors, and York and Leeds. The spacious house is very comfortably furnished and looks exactly as shown in the pictures. The neighborhood is quiet and great for walking. There is an ASDA grocery store about a 7-minute walk away, and the town is about a 10-minute walk. There is comfortable seating in both the living room and the dining room. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking, which we did almost daily for breakfast and dinner. We washed clothes almost daily with no problems. The host is easily accessible on-site and is very responsive to questions or problems. When the coffee maker stopped working, she provided another one the same morning. We had mostly nice weather so we also enjoyed the picnic table outside. We hope to...
