This place is barely a restaurant, it is a literal scam. They prey on tourists who come here without having that many other choices, and that means they don't have to do anything right to stay afloat.
The staff was incompetent and slow. We literally saw a guy just standing in the kitchen, doing nothing. They didn't tell us that you had pay at the bar, so we had to go and ask. And lastly they didn't care about the customers at all. They weren't rude exactly, but it was obvious they didn't want to be there.
The food could honestly be considered false marketing. We ordered the mexican tacos. But they were by no means tacos. They were closer to beans and hashbrowns than tacos. It was some weird flatbread that got stuck in your teeth in absurdum, absolutely covered in beans. It wasn't even black beans as they said on the menu, but black eye beans. It wasn't even good beans.
Way too expensive aswell. I don't remember the exact price, but around 50 pound for two people. This whole experience felt like a baked beans-induced hallucination....

Visited Ambleside for the weekend for a Lake district holiday, and stayed at the Daffodil Hotel and Spa which recommended Tweedies to us. Came the first night after last dinner orders so sadly had to make other dinner plans. Heard such good things that we came again on our last night for some Dinner and was not disappointed! Did not realise we had to book a table so were worried we would be turned away again but was seated regardless by the wonderful accommodating staff. The energy of the staff was infectious, especially that of our server Michelle who laughed with us all night and gave the most excellent recommendations from the menu, she told us she has never been wrong and she didn't lie. The food was AMAZING! Hearty portion sizes and an atmosphere that made you never want to leave. The interior was cozy and made you feel like home and the staff made you feel like Family, can't wait to come back and...
Read moreBeware, the food is NOT good in this establishment. We've had pub food in Britain many times and some are better than others but this food was not better than others. My wife got chick pea curry with only looked like curry but did not taste like curry. I got the monk fish and it was on a bed of baba Ganoush and had very little flavor as well.
The service was great except for a drink hiccup that took 4 tries to correct!
The pub atmosphere is nice and there is also an outdoor garden with lots of picnic tables as well as some umbrellas.
We would not recommend the pub for a meal but their beer selections is good.
BTW, a couple next to us, returned their food and asked to speak to the manager and shared their disappointment. In the end they just wanted to leave even though he tried to convince them to order...
