We had a lovely stay here. It’s in a wonderful location overlooking the beach (short walk from the hotel down on to the beach itself). The hotel is beautifully decorated, but not particularly accessible. While there is a ramp to access the building from the car park, this is not well sign posted or obvious. Throughout the hotel, there is also a lot of steps. There was one accessible parking space available, and this was occupied by another guest for our entire stay. It would be helpful if there were more blue badge spaces available, and if it was possible to reserve them. Our sea view room was Beautiful, with a stunning view. There was a lovely selection of tea and coffee provided with of a jar of biscuits in the room, and daily fresh bottled water. The rooms were cleaned to a high standard each day. It is worth noting, that the rooms are not very soundproofed, and we heard the noise from the corridor throughout the day and night. The shower in the room was lovely, but the shower curtain could do with being a bit longer, as it wasn't able to contain the water in the bathtub and flooded the floor. We visited both the Hotel’s Restaurant and their Bar for food and drinks during our stay, both of which have very lovely views across the bay. The food in both was excellent, tasy and well presented. Breakfast was a lovely selection of fresh fruit, a great berry smoothie, and the yoghurts and compotes available were very tasty. There was also the option of delicious hot food including a daily special. The hotel staff really helped to make our stay special, to mention a few, Jack in Dune Restaurant was very good at his job, he was amiable, very efficient, and professional. Sarah who greeted us for breakfast in the Dune restaurant was very friendly and made the effort to remember our names and use them. Anthony (also breakfast server) in the Dune restaurant was lovely, friendly, and chatty, and exceptionally professional. Special thanks to Beth on reception who gave us lots of helpful information and recommendations in the local area. She was friendly and made a great unofficial photographer for us all week! The spa and leisure facilities were stunning, well maintained, and luxurious. The jacuzzi was gorgeous, and very relaxing. The swimming pool was clean, warm, and very refreshing. Within the accessible changing room, there was no soap dispenser available, no locker for our use, no shower curtain and the seat for the shower would not stay in the upright position (when not needed). During our stay we had two very lovely and relaxing full body hot stone massages. During our stay, the hotel changed a couple of timings of our pre-booked activities without informing us, I.e., Our dinner reservation was changed by 15 mins, and our massage was changed by 30 mins, which then meant we had to change the time of our afternoon tea. While the hotel acknowledged this error, they were unable to change the time back to our original reservation. It would have been helpful if we had been notified of any changes prior to them occurring. When we came to check out of the hotel, we were presented with someone else’s bill, and this error was only realised and rectified when we brought it to the receptionist’s attention. Having then received the correct bill for our room, we noted that we had been charged for breakfast despite having paid, when booking, for bed and breakfast. This error was only noted and remedied when we brought it to the staff’s attention. This error occurred on our final day during breakfast when the waitress wrongly added this to our room bill. We noticed throughout our stay, while the majority of the staff were helpful and professional, it was apparent at times that there was a lack of senior management present. Had there been a supervisor/ manager present at breakfast, we don’t feel that this error would have occurred. Overall, this is a lovely hotel with a very relaxing atmosphere and we would highly recommend it to...
Read moreWe have just returned from our third visit to this hotel (first time back since before covid) we stayed in the suite for the second time. I was a teeny bit disappointed with how dated the hot tub was looking, a number of buttons on the operating panel were broken or missing and the table had fallen off, there was also a large dribble of rust running from one of the fittings down into the water. The hotel was closed for a little time prior to our visit for a refurb but it was a shame that the rooms (or at least our room) had not been included in this. We have been at the same time of year before and this falls within my birthday week, which we do inform the hotel of at the time of booking, usually we are welcomed with a bottle of Prosecco in the room and some little chocolates which makes all the difference however this time we had a bag of popcorn on the bed, which after some research I learnt that all guests get this as standard. I understand times are hard but I can guarantee we paid significantly more for our stay this time than what we did in 2020, therefore a little gesture would have been welcomed. When we arrived to the car park there is an allocated space for the Suite which we were informed of and is paid for within the price of the room, once during our trip I needed to use the car and upon returning had lost our dedicated space to another vehicle, a little miffed about this but there were other spaces available so I parked elsewhere. I informed Emma on reception that I had needed to park in a different space out of courtesy for them to know who’s car it was and was met with a rather bad attitude from her claiming that ‘I should have put the post in when I left to reserve the space’ at no time during our check in were we told about a post, nor was there a post in the spot when we first arrived. I was rather put out by the attitude and felt she was basically giving me a verbal shrug. Considering as a guest in the suite we paid a considerable amount more than other rooms in the hotel, I expected to be treated kinder than what was received. That being said I cannot fault the rest of the staff at the hotel, the bar staff were friendly and prompt, the housekeeping was great and all said a cheery good morning when passing, however I must mention the restaurant staff. Sarah from the breakfast team was excellent, she was attentive, interested in our stay and our activities and made me feel special on my birthday morning, Neil the breakfast manager (who basically never sleeps!) was wonderful, we treated ourselves to the Taster menu on our last night (my birthday) along with the wine pairing and we cannot fault the service we were provided, he was knowledgable about the dishes being served (even threw in some extras!) and the wine he was pairing with each, even giving us two different glasses with some courses as he wanted us to get the full experience! He even supplemented a dish because we had had it as the chefs special the day before not realising it was part of the taster. Brilliant. The chef was also very talented. We have eaten at some of the best restaurants in the UK and the food he produced on the taster menu was on a par for sure. Definitely recommend! Thank you so much for making our stay and making us want to return again for a...
Read moreLast year I wrote in high praise of Fistral Beach Hotel which is copied here because the only thing I can add is that it was even better this time. We feasted here for the three nights and every dish was lush, especially the venison and small plates. Do a limited menu and do it well ( or superbly in Fistrals case). We felt the spa area felt better, fresher and cleaner and everything worked fantastically. We love the fact that there are limited seating areas - our preference is not to be clambering over people who have camped by side of pool for the day. Finally the staff were so friendly but professional. I am sure every one of them is the same but we must put spotlight on Tori, Noah and Will as these were the ones who we mainly dealt with. They were superb. Thanks to everyone - we will return next year again.
Last Years Review We are regular New Year visitors to Cornwall and usually come for the New Year celebrations. We came to Newquay last year and had an OK time but realised that we were better coming after NYE because, let's be honest, it's cheaper. We were booked in another town but saw a deal for this hotel that seemed too good to miss. So, with no expectations we took the deal. Firstly, Fistral Beach is stunning and after a long 4 hour drive it's just nice to take in the view and the air. The hotel is in a fantastic position and looked smart - but we knew this as we had done the research. What we didn't know and certainly didn't expect was what an outstanding place this is. The hotel is clean and contemporary - maritime adornments meet Scandi style. There is a chilled out atmosphere here and this is due in a huge part to the exceptional young staff. Welcome desk, bar staff, spa workers - they were so friendly, helpful and just professional. A special mention to the breakfast staff who were simply lovely - nothing was too much trouble. We had a standard room which was absolutely fine for us. Couldn't see the sea but you could hear it's low rolling melody that gave us a fantastic night's sleep in a very comfortable bed. The spa was small but absolutely perfect for two middle aged people who spent the days walking the magnificent coastal path. To get to relax in such a way was perfect. We dined twice at hotel. The small plates were outstanding and fish and chips wonderful. The breakfast was sublime and plentiful both in size and choice. I could wax lyrically for a greater length of time but suffice to say the hotel was perfect for us. I know it might not be the consensus opinion but to have a place that is child free is a bonus and a big one for us is not have a place overrun with dogs. It was absolutely perfect. We fell in love with it and because of that we viewed Newquay through totally different eyes. Perfect and Thanks. We...
