Kilmore Farmhouse — Hotel in Great Britain

Auf meinem Weg durch Schottland machte ich natürlich auch am berühmten Loch Ness Halt, ein muss für jeden der sich auch mit der Geschichte des Landes befasst hat. Nicht allzu weit vom weltbekannt Urquhart Castle liegt das beschauliche Dorf Drumnadrochit. ||||Durch meine Recherchen kam ich nicht am Kilmore Framhouse vorbei, das neben besten Bewertungen auch zahlreiche Auszeichnungen verfügte. Und ich hatte Glück, es gab eine Stornierung und so kam ich zu meiner Reservierung! Colin und Frances, die hosts, haben mir bereits im Vorhinein viele Fragen abgenommen.||||Die Lage in Drumnadrochit ist wirklich leicht zu finden und vor allem liegt das Kilmore Farmhouse in einer ruhigen Seitenstraße, etwas entfernt von der Hauptstraße. Was mir persönlich gut gefallen hat, da ich abends einfach nur Ruhe haben wollte.||||Der Empfang war herzlich, Colin nahm mich auf und gab mir gleich alle Informationen die ich brauchte (Empfehlungen für Restaurants, Schifffahrten am Loch Ness uvm.). Er bot mir an auch den Tisch zu reserviern, im Fiddlers, was echt eine wirklich gute Wahl war. Frances hat sich am nächsten Tag auch noch die Zeit genommen mir mögliche Wanderrouten rund um Drumnadrochit zu zeigen.||||Das Zimmer war angenehm sauber und hatte alles, was der Wanderer so braucht. Allerdings sucht man einen Fernseher hier vergebens, was mich aber auch nicht wirklich gestört hat. Zum Schlafen wirklich eine sehr gute Wahl, da auch das Bett bequem war.||Es gibt einen wirklich geschmackvoll eingerichteten Aufenthaltsraum, wo auch ein Fernseher drin steht. In nur zwei Nächten hatte ich nicht viel Zeit mich dort aufzuhalten, aber dennoch sah er sehr gemütlich und bequem aus.||Das W-Lan hat immer einwandfrei funktioniert, was für mich persönlich auch sehr wichtig ist.||||Das Frühstück war auch wirklich 1a, da gibts nichts zu bemängeln. Am Vortag wird gefragt was man denn gerne hätte und wann ungefähr gefrühstückt wird, dann ist alles vorbereitet! Ein Tipp vorweg: Colins Bircher-Müsli ist einfach nur köstlich, auf jeden Fall probieren wenn ihr dort seid! Ich bekam auch noch Pancakes, obwohl ich diese gar nicht am Vortag bestellt hatte - also einfach nur perfekt.||||Abschließend ist nur eines zu sagen: Colin and Frances, thank you so much for the hospitality and the wonderful stay. We decided on a stopover in Drumnadrochit on our way south and found this lovely guesthouse right next door to a great pub (Benleva) which apparently serves good food. The reception we received from the owners on arrival made us feel so welcome. The room was very comfortable and absolutely spotlessly clean . The furnishings in the room were of very high quality and it turned out to be the nicest room on our whole trip. The breakfast room was a really nice place to eat with a sunny view over the garden and to the hills beyond. My wife and I both had a full scottish breakfast which was fab and set us up for our long journey that day. MAKE SURE YOU ORDER THE SCRAMBLED EGGS! What a gem! Everything about this place is lovely. Nice rooms include comfy beds, soft pillows, vanity, clothing rack, complimentary snacks and drinks, outside: parking and semi-secluded seating includung Adirondack chairs around a wee pond. Dark enough for stargazing, lit road for walking (restaurants/pubs within 10min walk). Offers hot breakfast made to order, free Netflix, small but luxe private bathrooms with heated towel racks, clean inside and out. Angie the proprietor is an absolute joy - unobtrusive, helpful, personable and kind. Cannot recommend this place enough.
