Benleva Hotel Restaurant — Restaurant in Scotland

Found this small , quaint, olde world hotel by chance & popped in to see the evening menu. There was a small menu sited on a board at the entrance but once inside there was an additional & extensive specials board. We were offered to either sit in the dining room or in the bar. The atmosphere in the hotel was friendly & welcoming , the service was fantastic from the moment we walked through the door. The food really was exceptional with ample portions. Was a nice atmosphere, met some lovely people, the waitress was really nice. BUT, took an hour and a half to get food. No updates whatsoever. My mum ordered a soup which she was told was one thing, a different soup eventually arrived and the waitress didn't even know what soul it was. We had no communication about this change or the times etc. The neighboring table waited an hour and a half for food and when they asked the kitchen hadn't even begun cooking. Very disappointing.From the outside it looks like a wreck we thought well give it a try since it was the only restaurant that was dog friendly in the area. We ordered haddock adm steak pie - portions were massive and food very tastless.For a dinner for 2 we ended up paying £40 which was just drink and main course each.
