Food poisoning incident - AVOID.

I ate dinner at Fiddlers on 4 August (the prawn cocktail and the venison steak) and experienced classic food poisoning symptoms during the night (vomiting and diarrhoea) from c.2-6am. I emailed the restaurant on 7 August politely explaining the incident and making them aware of it, in case there had been similar reports and there were issues with the restaurant's suppliers, etc. I was not in any way rude and did not ask for a refund etc. I have, to date, received no response from the restaurant, despite having sent an email reminder.

Of course, I understand that it is by no means categorically the case that what I experienced was food poisoning. However, the fact that my symptoms began a few hours after having eaten in the restaurant, and did not extend to the days afterwards, it seems fairly clear that it was food poisoning and not, say, gastroenteritis. That aside, the fact that the restaurant has not had the courtesy to reply to my email (which was more than reasonable in the circumstances) shows to me that it either: (i) it has an uncaring attitude towards its customers; and/or (ii) it is too disorganised to write an email, not to mention that their silence could be seen to infer that they are aware of such food poisoning incidents.

As for the restaurant itself, the food was OK but nothing special (symptoms aside), but the service was extremely slow despite the restaurant not being particularly busy. The place strikes me as a bit of a tourist trap - making the most of the fact that it's the only pub in the village.

If the restaurant would like to provide a satisfactory response to my email I will happily take down this review, however, as it stands it is safe to say I will not be returning...

Amazing food and great service. We were recommended this establishment on multiple occasions and so decided to book a table (again, we were advised to as it can get pretty busy). We showed up at 6 to find the door locked. Going next door to the bar section, we asked where we needed to go and were advised that the restaurant didn't open until 6 but, as it was a nice day, we didn't mind waiting 5 minutes for this. Once inside, the staff welcomed us and were attentive to our needs. They asked about the allergies we had previously mentioned and then one lad offered to shut the blind a little as he could see the sun was in my girlfriend's eyes. We were given plenty of time to decide what to eat and drink and never felt pressured apart from being told on the phone that there is a 90 minute maximum turnaround time on tables. In my mind, for a small restaurant, this is fair. We both had the Venison Stornoway (tender venison fillet served on Stornoway black pudding) which was AMAZING! I followed that up with ice cream which is Mackies, a well-known, Scottish brand. The whisky selection here is amazing and had I not been driving the next day (and the fact I dont have a house to remortgage), I would have liked to sample pretty much all of them. I can't recommend the...

Attended on the evening of 19th August between 630pm and 730pm, never again.

There were 4 adults and 3 children seated at the next table. Two of the children were climbing on the seats, the tables and child high chairs. They were also rolling from seats onto the floor, banging cutlery repeatedly on tables and generally being a noisy nightmare. Parents who were present could not give a hoot what the kids were doing. Staff walked past on numerous occasions and said nothing. One member of staff virtually had to step over one of the children on two occasions as they hung upside down from a chair onto the floor. Despite all of the above the staff said absolutely nothing to the kids or the parents. Despite the risk of injury to the children, customers and staff.

The food was good, however the whole experience of eating there was completely spoiled by the children's behaviour and the lack of parental care or the intervention of staff. Staff need to challenge this sort of behaviour to ensure all customers enjoy their dining experience.

I hope that there s CCTV covering the rear of the premises, next to the rear fire door in order that management can view the cctv footage.

In short the food was good but we will...

This was honestly the best experience we had in Scotland. We've been to pubs and restaurants throughout the country but nothing beat this little place. They didn't have a table for us but managed to squeeze us in, even earlier than planned thanks to the amazing and funny stand-in manager Sam (we we're lucky to meet him since he doesn't work here anymore, he was only helping out since most of the staff were working off-site at a festival). Everything in town was fully booked and he was our savior. The food was amazing (try the haggis!!), the menu with its whiskey pairings was well thought out, the place was cozy with so many different whiskeys to choose from and all the staff were attentive and so so friendly, though I only got the name of Millie, who was a sweetheart. Cannot recommend this place enough. If you're staying nearby or just passing through, you won't be disappointed visiting Fiddlers! Once again, big thanks to Sam, who went out of his way to get us a table and the rest of the staff who, together, made our stay unforgettable for us. This is the exact experience we wanted from our trip!!

It's an amazing place. The restaurant where we had dinner has lovely staff and delicious food. The garlic bread and the "Fiddler's Mighty Burger" were very tasty. My friend had the "Veggie-Burger" that instead of fake-meat had a huge mushroom inside it; she absolutely loved it. For a dessert she had a "Lemon-Cheesecake" and I tried their homemade ice cream. Both things really good. Only bad thing is that it can be a bit noisy and crowded during the evening but it didn't bother us much. And we also stayed there for the night as the restaurant offers B&B rooms in a house opposite the restaurant. The bathroom is shared but the shower was perfect after we came back from a wet walk. It would even have a bathtub. And the beds were amazingly comfortable! Only thing was that when you turned around you could easily fall down. The next morning we were offered a generous breakfast with fresh fruit and cereals as well as croissants and bread with jam and butter or meat and cheese. All in all we loved that place and would it recommend to anybody in need of a restaurant or bed in Drumnadrochit.

While staying at the Loch Less Lodge we had our 40th wedding anniversary dinner at Fiddlers Highland Restaurant. It is a small quaint bar/restaurant with a nice vibe. I highly recommend reservations. The food was fantastic! If you enjoy whiskey this is your place. Our taxi driver told us the owner is a very knowledgable whiskey connoisseur. Every meal and desert on the menu provides a suggested whiskey pairing. We had a starter of smoked venison with chutney, greens, served with a unique sauce on crackers. I had Whiskey roasted salmon and my wife had the rib-eye steak. For desert we had a Whiskeysponge and a Lemon Posset. Everything was A+.
