Read moreWe had a truly disappointing experience at Ness Deli. While the food was decent — nothing particularly special — the real issue was the poor service and confusing customer experience.
The service system is inconsistent: if you sit outside, you have to order at the counter, but if you sit inside, you are served at the table. We chose to sit inside, ordered our meals and drinks, which arrived quickly, and we enjoyed them without any issues.
However, after we finished eating, we waited for about 30 minutes without anyone checking on us. As the place started to get busier, it became clear that the staff lacked experience. One waiter repeatedly walked past us, completely ignoring us, more interested in standing at the counter than looking after guests.
When we finally flagged someone down to order desserts and coffee, we were told that desserts, coffee, and even the bill had to be ordered at the counter — a sudden change of rules that made no sense. By then, the queue at the counter was out the door.
To make matters worse, a couple sitting next to us (who arrived after we did) were served cake and coffee at their table. When I asked the waitress why they were being served while we were told to queue, she replied, “When you asked, there weren’t as many people to serve.” This was simply not true.
Frustrated, I declined dessert and coffee, paid at the counter, and left. Sadly, this was the worst service we’ve encountered during our time in Scotland — a country where people are usually so welcoming...
Read moreVery unaccommodating and terrible service. I went here for breakfast and there were no available vegan options on the menu, not even one thing. I had even asked if they could make me a sandwich but the staff was so quick to say no they can only do the breakfast menu. We suggested if the woman on the counter could ask the chef in the kitchen to make me something, literally anything. The lady on the till didn't even bother to ask the kitchen and she just said no we can't do vegan, everything has dairy.
As this cafe is located in a popular and touristy location they should cater to all dietary requirements and be more inclusive as well as accommodating to everyone. We came all this way to this place and they can't even help us, I mean how ridiculous is that! This is a tourist place the customer service should be much better not rubbish. The lady on the counter was in her own world and didn't even know what was on the menu. Very disappointing and appalling and honestly surprising as veganism is a growing frenzy especially in the UK. As I'm from the UK I'm well aware that all supermarkets have accessible vegan food so why is it rocket science for this...
