There is an abelist bartender working there named Phil. Because of my autism/disabilities I don't act in a way that is considered "normal" I'm also awaiting a below knee amputation, with my left leg being shorter than my right. Because of this I don't have the most stable walk. Phil decided that I was drunk despite the people I was with (people he knew and even works with. I was also fully coherent and able to form full sentences without any slurring or misspeaking, this review is infact being written not long after leaving, I'm pretty sure drunk people don't write out fully coherent paragraphs about disability discrimination) informing him I was actually sober and had very little to drink tonight. I infact have a self imposed 4 drink limit as I don't like to feel beyond tipsy due to my autism, so I stop myself after 4, tonight I had only had 3 drinks (anything after 4 just makes me very sleepy due to my pain medication so I never surpass that number and wasn't even tipsy this evening) Phil decided to cut me off because I don't act the way a non autistic/disabled person would despite the fact my actions were that of a sober person, I was polite, and friendly but having literally seen me for less than half an hour Phil decided I was drunk despite being sat semi quietly with friends. My actions weren't anti social, I wasn't loud or saying anything untoward. However Phil decided to single me out from the people I was with (people he knew, though he didn't know me which I believe lead to his unfair assessment, though all of these people said I wasn't drunk, and had drunk less than any of them and had been out alot less time) so basically Phil will infact be an abelist to you if you are disabled or autistic and he doesn't know you personally. Infact phil was actually trying to push shots on the table so he could and I quote "make more money". This is a completely unprofessional way to conduct business and I honestly don't think his treatment of me was at all reasonable, nor did the people I was with. Drink here if you want to be treated like less than just because someone doesn't know your...
Read moreCame here to play Dungeons and Dragons, and Phil (who I think is the owner?) was very lovely and allowed me to purchase a kid's meal, because that's all I could afford. He was happy for me to have a kid's meal and didn't stipulate that you can only get them up to a certain age, which a lot of places do. The scampi, chips and beans was tasty, hot, arrived quickly and filled a Half-Orc sized hole.
The Dragon Sunrise cocktail was delicious and a great deal of £7, too! And I didn't even have to fight a Dragon for it!
Phil was easy going and laid back and we learnt about the history of the pub.
The decor was great, from dragon paintings, to swords, a shield, a Welsh dragon (bonus points from this Welshie!) and lots of beer labels and stickers on the walls/bar posts, and even in the toilets. It immediately felt welcoming; how a tavern should be, and no undesirables, such as Necromancers or Goblins on site.
This Half-Orc and Human Companion had a great time and both will definitely be back, for the food, the company, and the booze. (And probably another...
Read moreThe menu online is 8 years out of date Ordered fish chips and mushy peas x 2 £42 for 2 X fish and chips and 2 pints in an average pub at best Waited over an hour for food to arrive The mushy peas weren't mushy peas they were watery very runny it was green water with a few peas in it, whilst they weren't the worst chips we've had they certainly weren't the best either, I was satisfied with my fish, however the wife's fish was pink and grey watery undercooked/raw in parts with a poor taste, to be told on returning the meal that the kitchen was now closed and no replacement could be offered, a glass of beer was offered as compensation and no refund given, at 67 years old and well travelled I've rarely written a poor or bad review however this unfortunately was one of the worst experiences in pub dining I've ever...
