Without any shadow of a doubt this is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in! The hotel is very, very tired and drab and in a state of disrepair. It looks like the building has been closed for a very long time and had just been unlocked that morning and put to use without any preparation at all. The room I was given had a partially constructed four poster bed that had a broken bed base which was sagging in the middle and the mattress was so badly worn it was severely flattened from over use and was very lumpy and was so uncomfortable I had great difficulty sleeping. To make matters worse, while I was lying awake for hours because of some extremely noisy guests, that the management were making no effort whatsoever to tackle, I experienced severe itching and had to wonder about what was crawling around in the bed! After three hours I was unable to endure the noise any longer and had to confront the other guests myself. The carpet in my room had a very large stain on it that looked like old vomit and was generally dirty all over. The walls and ceilings had peeling wallpaper and flaking paint and the hotel and the room was in general an extremely depressing place to be! The shower was cold and the bathroom was dirty. There was an excuse for a built in wardrobe that turned out to be used to conceal some old and disused electrical items (electric heaters) and I certainly would not have wanted to use this filthy cupboard to store clothes! Finally, there was at least one guest who took advantage of the fact that the āNo smoking and no alcoholā sign in reception did not include cannabis in the list of banned substances as the place stank of it! Avoid at all costs! At one point I was seriously tempted to get up and go and sleep in my car! The building itself needs some serious and complete refurbishment and is an absolute health hazard. It really ought to be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis must be the worst hotel stay I have ever had. I booked a superior room in this 3 * hotel. From the room perspective, there was a big draft coming through the window. the electric socket was broken, the fixtures and fittings were in a poor state, the television didn't work and there was no hair dryer.|The bathroom bin hadn't been emptied from the previous occupant, the bath was dirty, the cups had a layer of dust in them and there was chewing gum or something equally sticky on the floor. In addition the curtains didnt completely close, letting in light from the road outside. On check in I asked about the restuarant but it was closed as I was told that the hotel was being refurbished although there was no sign of this anywhere. I had to go out to get a take away. When I went to work the following day I left a note by the television asking for a hairdryer and for a working television as there was no-one on reception. When I returned that evening my room hadn't been serviced so no chance of what I had asked for. The person on reception didnt lift his head from his phone even when I asked him a question. In addition to the above, this is certainly not a hotel for single...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI travel a lot and have stayed in many hotels all over the world, and I can honestly say that the Regency Hotel in Leicester was one of the worst, a health hazard to stay in.||||Not only was the room and hotel unloved and very dirty; during the second night, rain was flooding in the room, resulting into soaked curtains dripping onto a soggy carpet. It was like sleeping next to several dripping taps that you couldnāt turn off. It was impossible to fall back asleep. Upon further inspection the next morning, my wife found extensive mould behind the curtains, evidence that this was not a one-off occurrence.||||When my wife tried to complain to the manager the next morning, he insisted he was not aware of any mould of leaky roof/window. She was transferred to another manager who didnāt even listen to the complaint but shouted at her, calling her names. ||||They charged Ā£275/NIGHT (radio 2 party in the park) , knowing very well the state of the room (with a leaky roof and health hazardous mould!). They clearly have no morals or shame.||EVEN IF ITS THE LAST HOTEL AVAILABLE - DONT...
