We've stayed here in the past and gave it 5 stars but this visit was totally different. Room 201 is next door to housekeeping office / laundry room, on both mornings at 7:00 am we were woken up by door slamming and housekeeping staff meeting outside our room speaking loudly before they started their working day. We were also kept awake by loud music from two events on each night till 11.30pm. Complaint made to reception in respect of the early morning wake up calls! Secondly, the main riggers restaurant was full on Friday night so we were advised to find a table and order food at the upstairs bar. Problem was the poor bar steward (Scottish guy) was by himself and working like a trojan. He kept smiling and dealt with the high volume and queue of guests admirably. His customer service skills brilliant and he deserves a medal or pay increase! No support and or help from any of his fellow staff, I waited 20 minutes to order drinks and food which is totally unacceptable, not the poor bar steward fault but clearly restaurant management. The food to be fair was good quality and arrived quickly. To sum up AVOID room 201 at all cost and eat out in Poole with its large selection of...
Read moreA nice location although it would be better without the scaffolding.
We were expecting table service, but I guess we should’ve looked more closely. However, we were never given a menu with prices. Wine was nice once we’d got a full bottle (we were given a part-empty bottle by mistake). Glasses were not sparkling clean.
Plate clearance and service was a little lacking - tables left with plates that needed clearing, and we waited for our plates to be cleared but they weren’t until we went to get another course.
We almost had custard on our roast, assuming it was cheese sauce…. A label might’ve been useful here.
We had to go and ask for a coffee and when we paid the bill I had to help work out how much change we needed back. I’m not sure this was all a worthwhile experience for the money. A nice view / space if you want a quick snack but the food was mediocre. Salad tired, meat dry,...

We were a group of 12 meeting for Sunday lunch. Lovely location with harbour view in a very modern attractive building. Despite giving pre-orders we had to order again and had to add all drinks to a single bill - which should have rung some alarm bells. Starter was nicely presented but sadly not a lot of flavour. Main course was excellent with wonderful nicely cooked veg. My dessert - Apple & Rhubarb crumble - lacked any flavour. But so in all, good food.
What let everything down was the appalling service that spoilt the day. And when it came to settling the bill, it became clear that there were too many staff involved at the till, resulting in us having to pay more than we had eaten! Absolute farce. We paid the extra - after all, the RNLI is a great charity. But it did leave a sour taste...
