We stopped at Chad Hill Hotel for 9 nights in August 2022. ||||For us this place was ideal as it was a perfect base for us to visit the rest of the island from. We travelled to the needles, one of the furthest points from the hotel, and it only took us 50 minutes to get there by car. The hotel is also only a 5 minute walk from the centre of Sandown which has a lovely beach, a few shops and a pier.||||Upon arrival we were greeted by Judy who was very welcoming and we enjoyed chatting to her each day when we went down for breakfast - a perfect host!||||The hotel has a car park for guests, most days we were able to find a spot to park however there were a couple of days when we returned from exploring the island where there were no spaces available but we were able to find nearby street parking.||||When we got to the room we were a bit concerned as the bed seemed very hard however we actually found that we had no problems sleeping on it! The only downside to the room was the shower which was quite small and very noisy, however it worked properly and there was no issue with hot water which we have found at other hotels!||||Breakfast was served between 8-9 which worked well for us as we liked to set off early each day to make full use of our time on the island. However, it would have been nice if breakfast had been served until a slightly later time as some of the places we were visiting didn't open until 10 so we ended up hanging round in the room for a bit after eating breakfast, it would have been nice if on those days we could have slept in slightly later. ||||The hotel also serves evening meals and has a bar but we only tried the breakfast, which was great - my husband would recommend the poached egg on toast with bacon. Aswell as a cooked breakfast there was cereal and juice available to help yourself to. Tea, coffee and toast were also offered.||||The main reason I have given this a 4* review instead of 5 is that the walls were very thin. During our time some guests were often up late (after 11pm) in the corridors talking and early in the morning (around 6am). Due to me being a light sleeper this often kept me awake/woke me up early. However this was not a problem for my husband who managed to sleep through the noise!||||Other than that we had a fantastic holiday at the Isle of Wight and if visiting again we would definitely stop at Chad Hill Hotel and recommend it to...
Read moreReally nice! Breakfast is amazing, service is extremely good and the rooms were comfy. The hotel is really cute and charming. The main lady (Miss J? I FORGOT HER NAME :( ) was honestly an absolute delight and made me feel really at home. I don't know how she finds the time to be everywhere at once.
The only issues were that one of the beds had slats that kept falling off which made a dip in the mattress, the shower sounds like a plane is setting off, I guess because it is old, and they lock the doors at a certain time at night (despite being given a key) which wasn't great as we had seen some old friends for a drink and when coming back we had to ring the door bell which was a bit embaressing. I really did not like that we were not told of a curfew so I do believe this could be mentioned in an email before arrival or on any advertisements?
But we can't be mad about it;
Our car actually stopped running and the owners son, Alex, helped us to jump start it. He saved our holiday and we are so greatful for his help. He didn't have to do that yet he went above and beyond for us. Thank you Alex!
All in all...
Read moreThis is a very good hotel which is based just a few minutes walk from the beach. The host couple are lovely; very friendly and easy to talk with. The room we stayed in was large (a double bed and two single beds were easily accommodated) and cleaned to a high standard each day. The en-suite is quite small, if you are of a large build the shower unit may be a problem for you but again it was very clean and largely functioned well. There was a problem on the first day of use with a build-up of water in the shower unit but this was fixed by the hosts the same day and was not a problem again during the rest of our week. The beds were very comfortable and the food provided (both breakfast and evening meals) was delicious. All in all, we highly recommend the Chad Hill Hotel as an excellent place to stay during your time on the Isle Of Wight. We would happily return...
