The air conditioning experience in this hotel is terrible. The units themselves aren't very good but the panel you use to adjust the temperature basically just doesn't work correctly (and I tried 2 different rooms). If you attempt to make it cooler the units will sometimes make it warmer or just give up entirely, they have to be reset by the reception who tell you they have way more options in the office such as "cool" and "warm". As a result our first night was far too hot and we should have been offered an alternative room at 3am. Also, the room is lit up quite a lot at night, if you like darkness then I wouldnt recommend this hotel for you. Built into the headboard are the light/aircon and service buttons for the room which all dtay lit up throughout the night which can be incredibly frustrating as you're trying to sleep. When I asked management about this I was offered towels and sheets to cover it up - bad design.
Service was mixed I get the impression that management did want to remedy any issue that they could but lack of communication between shifts caused confusion. After not sleeping at all the first night due to the temperature I was offered a new room and free breakfast for the remainder of the stay (2 more nights). Despite not having the same "good night guarantee" as normal Premier Inn, I negotiated a first night refund, free breakfast and the new room as long as the general manager was agreeable.
This wasn't handed over correctly whoch led to embarrassing moments and confrontations with next shift personnel at breakfast, followed by a reversal on the agreed compensatory matters.
Just a really haphazard management team and although apologetic, just didn't hit the mark. Preferring to save themselves 7 quid instead of having a fully satisfied experience.
I wouldn't recommend this place to people who value sleep in a cool, dark room. Ultimately our second room was better but only after adorning the lighting with bedsheets and resetting the air conditioning via trips to the main desk (no phones in the rooms) every night. Not only thos but the premier inn name is being used but the service and guarantees are not the same. A hotel room serves one basic purpose and if you can't sleep it ruins your entire day you...
Read moreI booked this place solely based on price as the rates in London are outrageous. Because of that, I didn’t expect much at all, but we were very pleasantly surprised. I booked a ‘bigger room’ which wasrather small, and left me wondering about the size of the other rooms. Room 340 was just big enough to maneuver our baby buggy in with a slight struggle. The bed, however, was very comfortable. We only got 2 pillows though, which was a first for me.
The room and bathroom were immaculately clean and there were fresh fluffy towels available. There’s even a powerful hairdryer. There is no housekeeping, but this can be requested at reception if needed. We left our bin outside the door and it was emptied every day.
No issues with lighting and heating/air con. Everything worked great.
The breakfast is fantastic value for money at £7 per person, including continental and hot options. I especially liked the all-day tea and coffee station in the very cozy lobby area. The wifi is free and works like a charm.
The bar offers hot food options which you can pick up and take to your room or eat in the lobby, which, after a long day/night of travelling is a godsend.
The location is great too. Everything is within walking distance and there’s so much to see and do, especially on the weekend. We didn’t leave the neighborhood at all for the first 2 days.
If your plan is to spend your days outside exploring the city, taking all your meals in restaurants, and you’re looking for a clean, safe place to rest your head and shower, I highly recommend this hotel. If you’re spending hours a day in your hotel room, looking for small luxuries, or traveling with tons of luggage, better find...
Read moreI had a really good one night stay at this hotel. I have been to other Hub hotels before but this was the first time I stayed in the one in Shoreditch. My friend and I stayed in the standard size room.
Here are the pros of this hotel:
Very competitively price given the location super closed to Liverpool Street/Shoreditch High Street The lobby was beautiful, with great furniture and it was nice that you could get free coffee/tea as well as iced water The staff could not be any nicer - we were able to ask them if we could check out an hour later and they let us The room, while small, was functional, modern and really cozy Powerful shower Great bed There were iron facilities outside the room, a bottle opener inside, a hairdyer, luggage storage underneath the bed and space to hang coats/clothes The desk was very cool in that you can slide it open and shut depending on whether you want to have more space in the room or not Nice large TV right in front of the bed Air conditioning
Here are some negatives:
While the location is good the actual street the hotel is on is a little consipicuous and the building isn't super obvious Some of the smart features in the room such as changing the lighting to 50 percent for example didn't work at all in our room which was a bit annoying The aircon was a bit hit and miss; we mostly felt that it was struggling to really cool the room as the room gets naturally quite warm and the aircon unit is in an awkward position not near to the bed.
Although I would still highly recommend this hotel - there's no extra amenities or facilities but it gets all the basics right and the location...
