For the price of £35 per night - it's a bargain. It's not perfect, as one would imagine, but it is still excellent and aside from a few downs, it has many more ups, apart from the price (which was the lowest I could find in the nearby areas)
Downs: Creaky floors/dump patches as old buildings have; loud music coming from the pub until midnight; no shampoos/bodywash in the bathrooms - this is about all minor bad things No craft beers/ales in the pub! Not even Punk IPA, which is the best and most popular and many bars/pubs get along to stocking them. It still has a few regular brews - Hop House lager was he only one slightly resembling a good IPA
Ups (good things): Best quality burgers you can get in pubs around London. Honest - I am a pub-burger-expert! The only other one that could challenge its burgers quality would be one Wetherspoons by Tower Bridge who I always thought made the best burgers evah - fresh and juicy, with not a hint, not a slightest hint of any sinew or cartilage that you would get in most burgers in pubs around/close to london. These guys really use high quality meat!!! Can't be under-appreciated, if you like your burgers. Still can't match my Tower Bridge spoons burger (because of their gourmet blue cheese burger which is just 11 out of 10 marks plus being cheaper as it comes with a beer), but otherwise - a great quality 10/10 burger; Clean beds/sheets/bathrooms/rooms; Friendly enough staff; The price of the rooms! Really was the most affordable I could find, on my budget; Not many/any hotel rooms rules that would spoil your stay (I even managed to smoke a cigarette peeping out of the window, which was not restricted in its opening in any way - no smoke entered the room and I didn't do it next night anyway, being more sober, as you can always nip downstairs to smoke); Microwave/tea facilities in rooms, possible choice between double beds/2 singles (if you book a room for one/2 persons)
Overall - an extremely positive experience with my stay - would...
Read moreHazardous hotel - trip hazards, low lighting, no signs for actual hotel area. No separate place to check in for hotel - had to queue behind hundreds of football fans at the bar to check in and got elbowed badly in the face. Was given no information at check in how to get into the building later, when I came back at night. Got attitude from the barman when I tried to ask anything at check in. All the doors were locked when I came back from Wembley arena - luckily, someone knew that the entrance to the rooms was round the back, hidden in an unlit area with concrete trip hazards. I got an earful from the barman at check in when I tried to ask for information. They did not provide the decaff tea// coffee that had been requested and I was no given the opportunity to ask them anything at all. They did not provide a hairdryer - even though it was listed in the room details. When I called to ask for one, I was told repeatedly there was one in the room when there wasn't. Whoever I spoke to put the phone down on me twice. So rude. No details of how to check out - luckily, other people were checking out at the same time and they had been told how to check out - there is an obscure hole in a desk - unmarked - behind the stairs - that you drop your key into. I would never have found it. I've read the reviews and it seems if you're a white male, football fan, you're welcome at this pub, but if you have a different colour of skin, at £134 a night, you will get treated very badly. Steer clear, to protect your health. The room smelt...
Read moreRecently stayed at the Green Man and I must say it does exactly what it says on the tin - traditional Pub, simple rooms, Beer garden and free parking but there is more.. it gives exceptional value in a very busy area, site says "less than a mile from Wembley" but its MUCH less. seems a very short walk (the walk back is longer as its uphill. ). I must confess i was a little nervous with this booking as there were a few very damning reviews and frankly the nervousness turned to dread when I entered the Green Man. The interior decor in the common areas on the hotel side while clean and tidy could probably do with a tarting up but once I got to my room, all concerns disappeared as it was spotlessly clean, roomy and very comfortable with a spacious en suite. The staff in the Green Man were very friendly and customer focused, all requests were handled gracefully and with good humour - you were definitely dealing with real people and not faceless jobsworths. I wasn't driving on this trip but if I was the Green man (for me) would be a no brainer as London parking tends to be really expensive (if you can find any). In short, especially if attending an event in Wembley and were looking for value convenient accommodation, the Green Man is your ONLY man. HOWEVER, If you are used to and expect luxurious accommodation, you should really go to one of the other hotels at the bottom of the hill but expect to pay 2 to 4 times as much...
