Utterly disappointing, a sad 2/10. My family came to London for a city break and I flew in from Dubai. From previously living her, we have tried a lot of renowned afternoon tea’s in many prestigious places, however, never tried The Goring. From the moment we walked in, the lobby was lovely. We asked a chap in front office where to go, who ended up pointing us into the direction of the dining room to the left. We stood at the hostess desk, to which the girl just left us stood there. 5 minutes later she asked for the name and couldn’t find the booking (which confirmed that morning). Eventually we were told we were in the wrong place and she told us to go down the corridor. We were greeted for afternoon tea and sat down. We ordered 4 champagne brut afternoon tea. We were given an amuse Bouche, a little veggie tart. Very surprised for such a prestigious place to bring us tarts all cracked and falling apart. Surprised, chef let them go out like this. Tea selection was good (although I was given the wrong tea) and we advised we had one veggie with us (but would eat cucumber and egg sandwich - she wasn’t a vegan). The afternoon tea came and with all normal sandwiches. We said again one should be veggie and shared the sandwich preference, a short while later all new sandwiches came and looked like someone rushed the job - different sizes, rough edges, uneven and soggy. Disappointing. Scones were nice and the cakes were nice. I understand the hotel is very traditional, but the room was looking very tired. Lacked atmosphere and the staff, just didn’t seem to have much of a clue. Asides one young waiter who was the only friendly one and I could see this across several tables. Paid £80 for champagne afternoon tea and I would recommend elsewhere. The landmark, Claridges, Mandarin Oriental, are much better. Such a shame.

My sister and I stayed at The Goring for eight wonderful nights in April of 2025, each in a Belgravia suite.  The outstanding service at The Goring began two months in advance of our trip with Housekeeping emailing to ask about our preferences for still or sparkling water, type of bedding, room temperature, etc.  Then concierge services emailed to offer their services for planning our week.  Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by Mr. Michael Voigt, the General Manager, and Ms. Samantha Lopez, Guest Relations Manager of The Goring. I have never seen, much less met, the manager of any hotel I've ever stayed in before as they're usually sitting in their office.  Not so at The Goring.  Every day I saw both Mr. Voigt and Ms. Lopez chatting with guests all over the hotel. The high level of service and hospitality starts from the top and permeates all of the staff at this hotel.  Everyone seems genuinely happy at their job, and they all have kind words about their employer. The location is truly special.  Many of the five star hotels in London are on major streets with plenty of noise and pedestrians.  Not so on quiet Beeston Place where I slept straight through all eight nights with no disturbances from the street or adjacent rooms, despite jet lag from traveling eight times zones. With flowers in every room, afternoon mocktails, embroidered silk wall coverings, giant Rococo chocolate Easter eggs, fabulous food both for breakfast (orange yolk eggs Benedict I will never forget) and for dinner, it was a wonderful stay.  And, thankfully, they don't perfume their lobby! I found a parting gift in my room our final night - a priceless jar of The Goring's own strawberry jam.  A perfect stay at a perfect hotel - I hope to return one day!

I've been fortunate enough to have stayed at The Goring five times now and with each visit I love the place even more! Each time I've received a genuine warm welcome and made to feel at home and at ease from their amazing team. A team who I can tell love what they do and remember you from each visit. I can see why they were listed in The Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2025!||The rooms are lovely and impeccably clean, full of lovely decor, lovely toiletries and a turn down service where you come back to Classic FM playing on the radio to lull you to sleep! The best touch a cuddly toy sheep called Barbara waiting patiently on the bed for each guest to take home as a memento; I am slowly building my own flock (there's an interesting backstory to sheep which is worth reading about).||One of my favourite parts of my stay is visiting the bar with it's beautiful decor and array of drinks and the most amazing team there. Second to none. But a special mention goes to Billy (Scott) who has always gives us a warm welcome, provides great service and knows how to make the best cocktails - in fact he made my very own cocktail which was sublime! He works hard to ensure everyone is taken care of and always with a smile. Billy and the team are a real credit and there is no need to venture out further than the lovely garden!||The team always go above and beyond and on my last stay Sean from the Concierge team showed this when he helped me with a very last minute request. I needed to sort out a private Black Cab tour of London for some of my family visiting from Ireland and I couldn't find anyone! I was defeated and felt it was a long shot, but this is where Sean calmly put on his cape and within a couple of hours made it happen, and we had the most amazing afternoon. I was so happy!||I've stayed in lots of nice hotels, but The Goring is special because it makes you feel special with its genuine warmth, care and passion for its guests no matter who you are. That's special and sets itself apart from other luxury hotels! I always leave happy with another Barbara to add to my flock and will keep returning time...

Overall good.

To start with, the employees are brilliant - caring, friendly, attentive and great personality!  Although having a personality in the hospitality industry might not seem professional, I love the authenticity it brings. Also, there seems to be a lack of communication among them, or it might be the lack of desire in finding better solutions. And it’s rather disappointing since the hotel is a medium size, and they can increase their efficiency. Nevertheless, they are a great team considering they’re still in the forming stage. Thought, I see potential in achieving the performing stage, I’m a bit doubtful.

Then, I’m disappointed in seeing the poor utilities for the employees. Contrary to the believe of customers are at the heart of the business, one needs to consider that a business is run by employees.  Yet, they are different types of stakeholders and a fair comparison could be difficult. Nevertheless, employees can make or break a business as much as the customers. Although, the building might pose some challenges in the renovation process, you should at least be able to have a proper ventilation system.

On the other side, the food and wine is close to heaven! The dining room holds several awards, among them a Michelin star. I especially love the presentation - colours, sizes, shapes, quantity (not to say that the taste is less satisfactory). Also, the wine list is undoubtedly one of the most fulfilling I’ve seen so far - with about 25 countries, and probably about 800 types (rest assured you have all the help to find your wine). On top of this, the prices are fantastic! Yet, I suggested you stay away from the tea since there is a need for a higher hygiene (not only rinsing the tops,  but using a special chemical, especially due to their material). Though, rest assured the place has 5 starts rating for food hygiene.

Adding to this amazing package, there’s the garden - gorgeous looking with all the flowers,  great size, well maintained. And the brand overall - with the cute sheep thematic. It’s indeed something really unique. So, you might want to try it...

The Goring – My London Home from Home (If My Home Had Five-Star Service) I've stayed at The Goring quite about five times now, and each visit truly feels like returning home—if home offered five-star luxury, exceptional staff, elegant interiors, and a fantastic bar and restaurant. From the moment I arrive, the team welcomes me like an old friend, always finding the perfect balance between refined professionalism and heartfelt warmth. Their attention to detail stands out, from the beautifully prepared rooms to the anticipatory service that often knows what I need before I do. A special mention must go to the bar team, they are, without question, one of the highlights of every stay, and a special mention to Billy who has been fabulous every time with a warm welcome back, great service and his amazing drinks knowledge. He never stops working hard to ensure everyone is taken care of and will even create a cocktail personal to you – mine tastes great! Not only are they masters of their craft they’re also warm, witty, brilliant company and make every visit feel like a celebration. The rooms themselves are charming, classically styled, and impeccably clean, with each one offering its own unique character. A delightful touch is the cuddly sheep named Barbara waiting in every room for guests to take home (I'm slowly building my own flock!). During turndown, Barbara often gets into playful mischief—these thoughtful details set The Goring apart from other hotels. The staff continually go above and beyond for guests. On my last stay, Sean from Concierge helped me with a last-minute request for a private Black Cab tour of London for my visiting family. I assumed it was a long shot, but Sean made it happen, providing us with a memorable afternoon exploring London with our own guide. The Goring isn’t just a hotel – it’s a place that remembers, delights, and surprises. That’s why I return time and again, always leaving with a smile, another Barbara to add to my flock, and plans already forming for...
