Amazing! Don't think The Royal Mews is known as well as some of the other museums and things to do in the area. I think it's a must go though! This is where all the Royal vehicles, horses and carriages are kept. They have free guided tours where you can walk around with one of the people and they explain everything to you. You can also just walk around yourself and they give you one of those little devices that you can click on the number and it tells you what you're looking at. When you first go in you get to meet the horses or at least a couple of them which is pretty cool because they explain the color of the horse actually means something one color only pulls the Royal carriages and the other does everything else. There's probably a good five to six carriages there and a couple of them are just mind boggling! You get to go through attack room even get to sit in a little carriage and they have a small wooden pony called "Tony" that you can tack up yourself. Seeing the golden carriage is worth the Admission by itself. Think one of the coolest things about it listening to the self-guided tour is that they have Neptune and Poseidon statues on the carriage and that represented at the time that the Royal Navy was the most powerful in the world. A lot of the drivers still live in this area when you go in it's like a big Square in the Middle with apartments and there's actually families plan in doing things around. Think you could do the tour pretty quickly if you wanted to or just lazily walk around and take everything in. You can really learn a lot about the Royal Family and the differences in the carriages because there are some major ones. Take the time to come...
Read moreThe Royal Mews state vehicles, both horse-drawn carriages and motor cars, used for coronations, state visits, and royal weddings, are really amusing and outstanding.
Who ever cherishes and values history, art and antiques, this is certainly a place you would love to visit and enjoy these really spectacular and magnificent vintage horse carriages. For others who don't admire art and history I guess it would just be boring for them.
I enjoyed my visit at the Royal Mews very much. I was even very excited to meet some of the Royal horses which are serving the Queen today. Nevertheless, the Royal carriages and state vehicles are beautiful and amazingly crafted.
On the other hand, there isn't that much more to see or do, and you can really wrap-up your visit in quite a fair short time.
Remember that the entry fee isn't that cheap, so as I said before, you have to cherish and admire these type of things, in order to enjoy it. and after all, if you spend your time to visit Buckingham Palace then you of course have some respect to the great British kingdom, and the Royal mews is only a short walk away from...
Read moreI bought the tickets online at 10% discount via the Headout app. We arrived early before 10 am to find long queue then had to attend to the tickets windows for another 30 minutes waiting line in order to print the tickets which illogical process requires revising.
The staff were so friendly and helpful. Although we received audio sets as part of the tour but there was in-house guide fully informative and storyteller.
We liked the royal carriages specially the golden big one and the late Queen Elizabeth II car.
It is one hour tour always starts at 10 am so you will still be able to catch “Changing of the Guards” parade at Buckingham Palace; few minutes walk from the museum.
This is a must visit when touring in...
