From the moment we stepped into the charming embrace of Tia Rosa, it was clear we were in for a treat. This traditional Portuguese restaurant may be small in size, but it’s immense in heart and flavor. The food was nothing short of amazing – each dish bursting with authentic, tasty goodness that transported us straight to the streets of Lisbon.
The staff at Tia Rosa were the perfect hosts, ensuring our friend’s birthday celebration was memorable. Their attentiveness and warmth added to the great time we all shared. As a group of 6, we found the ambiance to be cozy and inviting, making our experience all the more intimate and enjoyable.
And let’s not forget the sangrias! Each glass was a sweet, refreshing journey through the vineyards of Portugal, complementing our meal beautifully.
We left Tia Rosa with full bellies, happy hearts, and the promise to ourselves that we would definitely be back. If you’re seeking a slice of Portugal served with a side of joy, Tia Rosa is the place to be. Five...
Read moreSo-so. Food: we only ordered the dish they recommended the most - Seafood Rice. To be honest maybe it’s out of comparison with another one I had recently, this one has not much variety in ingredients at all. This only had prawns (a lot, was very difficult to peel off its skin one by one) and mussels. Both these two key seafood ingredients didn’t have much flavour to them - to me it seemed it was just boiled, and then put into the seafood rice.
Service: Portuguese run restaurant so yes it’s authentic, but a bit pricey because of its location, and also overall in terms of what they deliver.
Atmosphere: The space between tables were quite minimal, and tables around us were quite loud, at some point it felt like a school canteen had to ask the opposing person to shout or repeat what was said.
Overall, it’s not value for money and it’s not worth its high rating at 4.8 stars (at the time of writing).
Seafood rice, still water and service charge, total was around £48...
Read moreExiting from King's Cross, turning left, navigating the crossing and walking down what at first seems dilapidated buildings with their frontages tainted by graffiti, you suddenly come across a small row of shops and eateries, one of which is the delightful Tia Rosa serving authentic Portuguese cuisine. I received impeccable and friendly service from Tiago, whose recommendations I greatly appreciated. There is a good selection of wine, including the cool and refreshing Vinho Verde. I savoured the chourico asado, which smelt so good that it had me salivating even before the first taste. This was followed by the carne de porco a Alentejana. The dishes were hot and the portions plentiful. I was pleasantly surprised by the reasonable prices and fantastic quality, given its proximity to one of the London railway termini. I left contented and completely full. Another excellent establishment on my list to return! Well done,...
