great place bouncer unfair ..... please read There were prob about 5 of us that visited on Friday night. it was a great venue loads of space and decent prices. on arrival the first few of us got in. the bouncer in the photo questioned one of our party not politely about being drunk but the party member is actually disabled...he thought otherwise but eventually he let hehe party member in. we were dancing away from all other customers because we all love to have a dance. one party Wolf whistled and over he came telling the party member 'you can't Wolf whistle or you will be out' we continued to dance. he was close bye watching us at all times. these pictures were taken after this event because I could feel he was going to cause us some kind of upset. A song had whistling in it and over he came to tell another member of the party 'you can't Wolf whistle in here. if this continues I will have to ask you to leave ' it was explained to him that it was in the song not us at which point he walked away. continuing to be watched and often walking over to watch us even closer. we continued to have a great time. then one party dropped a drink. I'm sure it wasn't the only drink dropped that night. he then threatened to through us all out but then backed off and cleared up the mess saying 'I told you this would happen' there was a warning slippy sign and after a while one of the party went to the bar to ask if the sign could be moved as it was dry. the bar man came over then the bouncer came over to interfer. they then had a conversation and the sign stayed. that's fine we danced around it. later on we continued to dance and one party whistled and that was it. he throw us out. we were at the door asking him for his SIA number and ID but he refused. one of the party spoke to the manager...Alex I think. who was lovely. he explained that it doesn't vouch for a throwing out and if we wanted to whistle that was OK. by this time some of the party had left and we just wanted the bouncers number to make a complaint. We didn't get this so unfortunately it means I have to do it this way. he said he called the police on a number of occasions which we were happy to wait for but the police never arrived while I was there. we were unfairly treated in all ways. if a member of the team could respond or make contact that would be great. there will be a formal complaint not against the bar just that individual bouncer.

Got the Thief Street chicken 2 person sharing platter at £42. It was tasty, the burgers were okay but I felt the burger to bun ratio was a bit off. Had to ask for side plates and given the stickiness of the meal some lemon hand wipes would have been a nice addition. Wanted to play darts, one wasn't working the other was supposed to be working but kept neglecting to register the throws so we got a refund and an apology. Some areas of the venue look like they need a deep clean and to be upholstered. Dust in a few places. Tables seemed to take quite a bit of time to get cleared of glasses and food. Staff are lovely though and it's generally always a good experience when we've been previously.

After waiting over half an hour for the food to arrive we had to ask for it in takeaway boxes or we would have missed the theatre. And we just ordered salads to be safe. No apology offered for delay but a rather dismissive and wholly disinterested attitude. And then the food, to say disgusting is an understatement. Bits of stale old corn “decorated” chicken so salty that you couldn’t taste it. The feta salad included something rancid (the feta for sure, and the good old corn) and a strong, heavy dressing to cover it. It went straight into the bin. I guess we may be the first customers who eat there whilst still sober, otherwise i can’t explain the good reviews.

Let's set the scene; it's Friday, work is done and it's time to settle into the weekend. What better way than a lovely fizzy pint of larger. Alas, it was never to be. On entering Gasworks there was a sense of familiarity – after all, I have frequented this (once fine) establishment for a number of years – and while standards have slightly dipped, we decided to dip in out of loyalty alone.

As it goes, my humble friend asked 'what you fancy?', I replied 'a pint of refreshing Moretti'. And as I sat in excited anticipation, awaiting the thirst quenching relief that takes away the capitalistic strains we all know and feel, what arrived at the table was nothing less than abysmally underwhelming. A flat, pint, of amber sadness. So headless you could run your Selenium tests on it.

On noticing our pints were flat, we did what any humble patron would do, and return said pints in a polite and respectful way. And while British civility would assume that these banal pints would be swiftly replaced – we were met with defiance. 'There's still some bubbles' she said... 'The customer is not always right', she implied. And so, we left with our tail between our legs and a promise to never return to...

Staff have such an attitude issue.

Now I've got the negative out the way, there are so many positives! Good food, easy location, reasonable prices, phenomenally good atmosphere (we've been twice so far, midweek, in "dry january" season & it's been buzzing), and then there's Shufl.

Honestly Shufl is worth a whole review by itself at this place, but I'll leave it at "addictively good, wholesome and competitive". Book in advance (email only- boo!), but definitely try it!

•• edit •• Been again this evening.

Can now confidently say might be better if staff weren't behind the bar - or in sight at all. It'll give you a better expectation of service you might receive: basically nil. I'll open my own bottle, sweep up broken glass at the bar myself - and tip myself too, ta. 4* review transformed to 3*.

Different chef on tonight, received half a portion of fries for full price (lucky me 🙃), a mere suggestion of sauce, and scraping the bottom of the barrell with the olives (all bitty and gritty, ew).

Go for the Shufl, stay for the...
