Nice reception staff, good location, room was clean and bathroom, although tiny, was modern with an excellent shower.. Kettle, microwave, fridge and TV were supplied and working.
BUT...
The (standard single) room was so small, there was no wardrobe, no table or desk, no chair whatsoever, no bedside table, no bedside light....it was BASIC with a capital B. The walls were thin enough to allow conversations and snoring from the next room to be heard clearly. The blinds were inadequate, leaving the room in permanent semi-darkness only all night. The fridge (about 2 feet from the bed) hummed loudly enough to have to be switched off at night. The WiFi was too weak for me to use YouTube or Netflix on my phone and IPAD Worse still, the mattress was so soft and sunken that I woke at 3am with backache and couldn't get to sleep again . So, I was very disappointed.
The manager explained that it was good value, given the cost of other hotels near the city centre. It was, she said, a budget hotel after...
Read moreGreat location for walking into central Norwich but other than that a bit of a let down compared with our first trip. The DIY man doubled up as a receptionist on the day, didn’t explain much, no Wi-Fi codes offered and even forgot to take our payment when we booked in leaving us to believe we pay on booking out. That was until we got a wrap on the door and another receptionist all but accused us of having an outstanding debt!? Apart from that we were put in a room in an annex which was tiny (thank god we didn’t have a cat to swing) and freezing cold. The tv wasn’t connected to Wi-Fi so no much happening there. The fridge was very noisy so had to be turned off at night so not to interfere with sleep. When all lights were turned out a big green light shone brightly all night from the ceiling. Such a shame as our first visit we had a lovely comfortable room in the main hotel and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Hopefully there are some nice hotels in the area for...
Read moreInteresting place. Rooms are smaller than normal double. The double bed is on the small side but at least it's not 2 singles pushed together. Our double room had a mini kitchen and fridge, microwave and few pots. The shower was good and bathroom was OK size. Asked for extra towels and iron and board, all supplied with ease. This is 2 star place , not hotel, as no food served here. Seemed clean but on inspection it wasn't spotless. Creaky bed and some furnishing scuffed or broken. TV had literally no signal and kept cutting out. Decent car park, which was free for residents. Staff were polite and helpful. This place would ok for one night stay and cheap for Norwich. If you don't mind the sound of water next door or the occasional creaky floors, this is good place. A nice touch is keeping family rooms in another hotel across the garden. Hence no noise from kids in the night or morning which you get in the likes of Premier Inns and other hotels. Good budget...
