Amazingly, caring, Kind - Kings Theatre Booking team... last year (2021), my wife and I took our Four-year-old Granddaughter to see her first Pantomime, "Jack and the Beanstalk," at the Kings Theatre Portsmouth. She loved it so much she wanted to go again! We live in Norfolk (Nanny & Grandad), whilst our son and his family live in Portsmouth. So this year, we bought tickets for My granddaughter, mum and dad to see Cinderella on 27-12-2022. Unfortunately, just before the intermission, she became unwell and returned home. She was very distraught that she had not seen the Pantomime. An email to the Theatre (From Nanny), a phone call from the theatre & "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Bom." Three new tickets for our Granddaughter. She returned to see it yesterday, 30-12-2022 & was straight on the phone to Facetime us to tell us all about it. My Granddaughter said, "She loves the Cookies and cream Ice cream", & can she come again in 2023 to see "Hook." So we will be booking some tickets for 2023!!!

Ps. "Can Nanny and Grandad come as well this time?" So I Guess your team did REAL GOOD!

Thank you Kindly Mr...

I am only giving this theatre a one star as I can't go any lower. We had three tickets booked for Rock of Ages on Tuesday the 14th June 2022. Today we received an email informing us the showing had been cancelled with no explanation. They offerd us the option to change to another date next week which we are unable to do due to other commitments and kindly offered to do this for NOTHING? We live on the Isle of Wight and have spent £60 on a ferry booking which we are not going to get back. I phone the very unhelpful staff member at the Kings Theatre who informed me that it was not their problem and that i needed to send an email to claim a refund. She then advised me that in the terms and conditions that we would not receive our £1.50 booking fee per ticket. So to sum up I have paid £64.50 for a night out i am not going to have. I highly recommend anyone looking to book a show at the king theater to avoid this venue and wait for it to come...

This is one of of the most wonderful theatres I've ever been to. So full of history and maintaining it's old Regal interior makes for a lovely experience. The old ornate statue that used to be on top of the tower outside is now displayed in the foyer, showing a glowing tribute to the past. Although now faded it stands for strength and longevity having been removed during World War II to prevent Portsmouth Dockyard being located by planes overhead. The acoustics in this lovely old theatre are very good and visibility to the stage is excellent. With all that said the seating is fairly snug and the bar area is quite small. Access to both of these areas are via many stairs. People in wheelchairs or with other mobility issues are able to access the stalls through doors on the ground floor. A typically vaudeville feeling in this theatre offers a very enjoyable...

Lovely theatre. Recently saw Madagascar live on stage and enjoyed it thoroughly. The seats are comfortable but can get very warm in the auditorium due to lack of air conditioning. The view from our seats was clear and unobstructed) but it has a small rake so smaller kids may need a booster seat but these are provided by the theatre when requested. The theatre itself is quite dated and has particularly sticky floor but has all the extras you would expect including several bars. There are a lot of steps to the various levels. Also, the entrance to the stalls is round to the left hand side of the theatre and not through the main entrance (down the left hand promenade of shops). On the right of the theatre is a lovely row of houses similar to the ones from kids tv show Balamory. The picture attached is the view from row K seat 13 in the stalls of Madagascar the Musical.

Recently saw, Legally blond here at the King's, I'm finding going into London for a show more difficult and have used the Kings for years anyway so it becomes my go to for a great show. Well Legally Blond here was as good as any west end performance. They sang the rafters off 2.5hrs of none stop belting music, singing fabulous songs, how they perform like that in a matinee then return for an evening show is beyond belief. Everyone on the stage was a star. I called to book my tickets as I'm disabled on sticks or mobility scooter, the staff were very helpful finding me an easy seat with a great view. I also normally manage street parking very close by as there isn't anywhere to leave my scooter so just a few paces on my stick. We even used the fresh pizza restaurant opposite and the wonderful old fashion sweet shop next door. What's not to love, see you again soon.

Very difficult to find any close on street parking but there is a multistory available to non shoppers at Waitrose in Marmion Road, approx 8 minutes away. Directions on e tickets. The theatre itself is very imposing, standing like a flat iron building at the junction of Albert and Exmouth roads. The small triangular entrance, containing the original roof top statue, opens out from the even smaller ticket office onto an elegant staircase up to the balcony saloon. There is a cool corridor separating the bar from the auditorium that is an oasis of retreat at the interval as there is no cooling fitted within the building. Seating is quite snug giving good alround views of the equally snug stage. There appear to be very few obvious changes to the fabric of the theatre, adding to the charm of a bygone age.
