Amazingly, caring, Kind - Kings Theatre Booking team... last year (2021), my wife and I took our Four-year-old Granddaughter to see her first Pantomime, "Jack and the Beanstalk," at the Kings Theatre Portsmouth. She loved it so much she wanted to go again! We live in Norfolk (Nanny & Grandad), whilst our son and his family live in Portsmouth. So this year, we bought tickets for My granddaughter, mum and dad to see Cinderella on 27-12-2022. Unfortunately, just before the intermission, she became unwell and returned home. She was very distraught that she had not seen the Pantomime. An email to the Theatre (From Nanny), a phone call from the theatre & "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Bom." Three new tickets for our Granddaughter. She returned to see it yesterday, 30-12-2022 & was straight on the phone to Facetime us to tell us all about it. My Granddaughter said, "She loves the Cookies and cream Ice cream", & can she come again in 2023 to see "Hook." So we will be booking some tickets for 2023!!!
Ps. "Can Nanny and Grandad come as well this time?" So I Guess your team did REAL GOOD!
Thank you Kindly Mr...
Read moreI am only giving this theatre a one star as I can't go any lower. We had three tickets booked for Rock of Ages on Tuesday the 14th June 2022. Today we received an email informing us the showing had been cancelled with no explanation. They offerd us the option to change to another date next week which we are unable to do due to other commitments and kindly offered to do this for NOTHING? We live on the Isle of Wight and have spent £60 on a ferry booking which we are not going to get back. I phone the very unhelpful staff member at the Kings Theatre who informed me that it was not their problem and that i needed to send an email to claim a refund. She then advised me that in the terms and conditions that we would not receive our £1.50 booking fee per ticket. So to sum up I have paid £64.50 for a night out i am not going to have. I highly recommend anyone looking to book a show at the king theater to avoid this venue and wait for it to come...
Read moreThis is one of of the most wonderful theatres I've ever been to. So full of history and maintaining it's old Regal interior makes for a lovely experience. The old ornate statue that used to be on top of the tower outside is now displayed in the foyer, showing a glowing tribute to the past. Although now faded it stands for strength and longevity having been removed during World War II to prevent Portsmouth Dockyard being located by planes overhead. The acoustics in this lovely old theatre are very good and visibility to the stage is excellent. With all that said the seating is fairly snug and the bar area is quite small. Access to both of these areas are via many stairs. People in wheelchairs or with other mobility issues are able to access the stalls through doors on the ground floor. A typically vaudeville feeling in this theatre offers a very enjoyable...
