For the first time in a long time I really am not satisfied with a Marriott/Residence. I came to Aberdeen to work government contract at nearby APG. This Hotel was one of few nicer hotels that allowed pets. There was a lot of great things about this hotel, however, because my billing issues were such a disaster I just wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. I made it clear upon check in that I needed my basic hotel bill applied to my corporate card.I wanted to pay the pet fees on a personal card. It was important to keep this separation. The next thing I know there is a $600 dollar hold on my personal card to were they were trying to charge the entire stay on my personal card. After realizing this, I called the front desk to try and resolve the issue. The entire amount went back to my corporate card. Although the hotel staff was helpful about getting the hold at my bank lifted, the first attempt was unsuccessful due to the hotel sending the wrong amount to my bank. When I realized there was another problem I contacted the front desk and they managed to finally get the $600 dollar hold lifted from my personal bank account. When I checked out and received my final receipt, everything had been charged to my corporate card, which, I made clear to separate the pet charge and put it on my personal card.
Today I found out almost 2 weeks later they charged a $250 dollar fee to my corporate card outside of my stay. I have called the front desk and they keep informing me that I need to talk to a supervisor to find out what the fee is after being put on hold and being hung up on 2 times. I have not been rude and have been very patient, still not understanding why they have charged $250 dollars to my corporate card. Surely it's not a deep cleaning fee. I was there for 5 days, although I did have dgs in a pet room, nothing was destroyed and there was no smoking. I am starting to feel that this is retaliation due to the billing trouble I had which was no fault of mine. 23 years of traveling at this point and have never had to deal with such incompetence. You would think staying at a Marriott/Residence Inn would keep you safe from experiences like this.
Because of this I just cannot recommend this hotel and will not rate more than a...
Read moreYeah, it’s a Marriott, so you already know it’s gonna be awesome. Great rooms, clean and inviting lobby. The standard Marriott level of perfection that other hotels strive to reach. So what’s so special about this place?? The people.I’m here for 2 weeks, and right off the bat I got 3 names for you...Chrissy, Terry, and Esmeralda. Chrissy heads the Bistro a few nights a week, and just her personality alone is enough to make me skip dinner in town and dine at the Bistro. Funny, charming, friendly, and with amazing customer service, she makes it feel more like being a guest at a friends house than a financial transaction at a hotel bar 2000 miles from home. I look forward to seeing her in the evening. Just an amazing woman and incredible asset to this establishment.Next up is Terry...she runs the Bistro a few nights a week as well. She is personable, funny, caring, and just a pleasure to be around. With her running things, service is fast, accurate, and friendly, sprinkled with her wry sense of humor and hilarious sarcasm. With Terry, you can tell she cares about your experience, and takes it personal. Love that lady!!!!Esmeralda is the newest addition...I think she started last week, but I can already tell she is gonna be great. Heading up the Food and Beverage section, she is hands on, but funny and attentive. She was like an old friend in minutes. Y’all did great hiring her. Loving me some Esmeralda!!! Lastly, I don’t know her name, ( UPDATE: it’s Kelsey!!) but she does house keeping on the second floor..young girl with a quick smile and super caring attitude, she always seems so concerned about my comfort, and my room is awesome every time I come back. She definitely goes out of her way to be sure that those high Marriott standards are maintained. Y’all better not lose her!!! Pay her what she’s worth!!!All in all, this was an excellent stay, and my second time here, because it’s a Marriott, and because of these amazing employees. ...
Read moreI was unable to get any sleep. There is a problem with the room doors, at least on the sixth floor. A piece of metal was added to the doors to prevent the wood laminate on the doors from being destroyed by the night latch when it is extended out to keep the door open. The piece of metal that was put on the door should have been inlayed on the edge of the door. The extra piece of metal on the edge of the door his hitting the door jamb and the door does not close all the way automatically with the door closer. As a result you have to either push or pull the door very hard to get it closed, it sounded like everyone was slamming their door on they floor when they closed it. My first night I figured it was a group of intoxicated people partying, but I did not hear any other commotion, when it happened the second night I realized it was the only way to shut the door after I closely inspected my door and discovered the issue being the piece of metal, but also that the door was no longer square with the door jamb and the top of the door was also hitting the door jamb. I spoke to both the manager on duty and the hotel "handyman". The manager appreciated the detailed feedback. The handyman indicated that they have been having the is issue and that it was due to the settling of the building. I do not believe that it is due to settling, I have seen the same issue happen on doors in my office building which was built in the 1950's (it has settled), the problem we have with new doors is similar to what you are having and the basic issue is that the doors are too heavy for the hinges. You have major issue here, you need to see if the doors were installed properly, I would first check to see if the door jambs were secured well enough to the adjacent wall. Good Luck, I will be calling to see If the issue has been corrected prior to staying at the this...
