Stay away!! All they want is your money! This past weekend their GM, Operations manager and schedulers and were all gone so they left the tournament to 22 year old kids. Low and behold there were bad storms which led to games being rescheduled or cancelled multiple times. The communication from them was atrocious. Tournament switched from double elimination to single elimination. We were never informed that our game Sunday morning was a continuation of our game the day before, which we had little chance to come back to win. So my team, which is local (1 hour away), went home Saturday night only to come back the next morning for an 8am game that lasted 30 minutes before we were eliminated. They had to get up at 530am to get ready and there for warm ups. If we were informed that this was a continuation game we would not have returned. Alec White did a terrible job as director Sunday, but the other directors on other days, Brandon Crews and Connor Naunton were not any better. GM Lauren Morris and operations manager Andrew Adkins need to be accountable for this weekend. They left this to young kids and paying $2950 per team for this was awful. We played all of our games at the community college except the last 30 minutes Sunday morning. We got the Harford Community College experience not the Ripken experience. What a joke. This tournament has sullied the Ripken name, which I thought would be hard to do to someone who was born and raised in Maryland, a diehard Baltimore Orioles fan and season ticket holder. Do better Ripken. My kids didn't...
Read moreIf you have kids that are Little League age this is by far the best baseball experience they will have. To me, this is second only to playing in the Little League World Series. The fields are modeled after major league fields and the kids love playing on their favorite teams fields. The "Green Monster" at Fenway is a big hit and so is Cal's Yard, which is a mini Camden Yards is where championship games are played. It's like a minor league stadium that has a seating capacity similar to a minor league stadium. Just very clean and the kids are allowed to play on the turf fields after the games are over. Very hard to get them back inside at night! This is the first time we stayed at the hotel on the grounds and I would highly recommend it. It makes everything so simple and our girls didn't mind sleeping in while our son had to get up early for batting practice. They could simple walk out the doors and come to the game when they wanted to. Everyone there couldn't have been more helpful to us. If you're not involved with a travel team simply put together a team and your baseball kids will never forget it. The competition is very tough and your top travel teams usually battle for the championship but it's not about winning... it's about giving your team the thrill of their young baseball career! They won't remember who they beat and who they lost to but they will remember the Ripken...

My 10-year-old grandson plays travel ball, and his fall team finished their season this year at the Ripken Experience Around The Horn Tournament.
My first thoughts were simply, "Wow!" The Cal Sr. Field is built like a minor league ball field, with a grandstand, recessed dugouts, and a concourse. The other fields, shaped like real MLB fields, are astroturf, incredibly well-maintained, and an excellent experience for kids.
The complex has two hotels, one of which is built to simulate the famous warehouse at the Orioles' Camden Yards in Baltimore, and there are other hotels nearby.
There is plenty of parking, including handicapped spots. The hotels have a restaurant, and there are food stands on the concourse of Cal Sr's stadium. The weekend we were there, they also had food trucks on the property.
Each game has an announcer, and a player of the game is selected for both the winning and losing teams. Those players receive a Ripken Experience pin. The umpires were great and really engaged with the kids.
Right across the street is the Aberdeen IronBirds Single-A minor league stadium.
Even if you don't have a child who is playing in a tournament, this is an awesome spot to spend a day on the weekend to watch some great...
