Hilton Garden Inn Aiken — Hotel in Aiken County

I feel bad giving this rating but I just have to in hopes they will improve. I come to this area and Augusta frequently for work. I usually end up staying at the Hilton Garden Inn property in Augusta due to location only. But this trip, the Aiken property was a better location. Very disappointed. It needs a lot of updates. The TV is awful. Not a smart TV and not even HD. Very few channel choices, no options for Netflix etc. The tv picture looks like the 90s. There’s also very poor phone/ device charging options! Who puts them in the lamp base anymore??? Also apparently the cook was not here tonight. Usually they have some good menu options if you don’t feel like going anywhere. The bartender looked like she walked in off the street to help out. Not to be mean but very unprofessional. No smile either. The manager ordered pizza for anyone who wanted it because there was no kitchen but the bartender who was also the server was not attentive with that at all. Again, dressed like a bum and wasn’t really interested in doing anything . She did bring me a couple drinks and was ok with that but didn’t smile or take my paper plate away..and again when I asked for a menu her answer was “the cook isnt here ”. Really?? That’s her answer? This is a popular Hilton brand and my room cost $178!!!! I was just so shocked. I am to sure if I will stay here again. Will drive to Augusta where the staff is more professional and I feel it’s more updated. I hope they figure things out before the Masters tournament in a couple weeks. HIRE MORE COOKS AND A REAL BARTENDER!! NO SPORTS...

Stayed at this property 2 weekends ago. The 1st room we were assigned had what looked like a bedbug on the sofa as soon as you entered. We didn't even go a step further! The front desk associate was great, but I could tell she was EXTREMELY creeped out. She offered us another room right away. NO hesitation or excuses. The rooms at this property are clearly older and in need of updating compared to other Hilton properties I'm accustomed to staying at, but was doable. We sprayed LysoI too death & wiped down just about every surface with disinfecting wipes! My sister ALWAYS travels with her own linen. Unfortunately...I don't. I started itching under my chin and on my chest a few days ago and wasn't sure what it was. It's been 10 days since our trip and I am HORRIFIED to discover I have ringworms!! At first, it was just small bumps, but now they have a more clustered, circular appearance. I haven't been anywhere else since returning, I work from home and am a homebody to the 100th power! By process of elimination, I have to assume the linen (towels and/or sheets) in that room were either not clean or hadn't been laundered in hot enough water to kill a fungus. I ordered some antifungal cream that I am PRAYING will provide some relief soon! The itching and off-putting look of the circular rash has my anxiety on TEN! I enjoyed my stay here. Noise wise for my stay it was very quiet. Very clean. The breakfast food is very good but is a bit pricey (I'm specifically thinking of omelettes). I will say I got the impression from numerous staff members that they could care less about me. This was especially the case at the breakfast bar, where the staff seemed very annoyed (no apology and no words spoken) that after I specifically requested no cheese (lactose intolerant) that when it came out with cheese they had to remake it. Sorry that I have a dietary issue? A simple apology from them would have made me not even mention this. They did however make sure to not put cheese the following days.

Also, I found out numerous days into my stay by chatting with other guests that the beds have a dial to adjust firmness. Mine was set to max firm and for me was very uncomfortable, but then after an adjustment it helped a lot. The staff up front never told me anything about the room/bed or amenities, just took my card and basically see ya later (they were too busy chatting with each other to care about me).
