Planet Fitness — Local services in Aiken County

I continue to become increasingly frustrated with Aiken Planet Fitness. The latest and greatest policy that staff are enforcing "all of a sudden" is that members are no longer allowed to bring any kind of gym bag into the facility. If you do, it must be locked in a locker, no exceptions. It doesn’t matter if you have medical equipment or personal items that must accompany you throughout your workout-this is strictly forbidden. Being a former gym owner I understand the liability issue of items on the floor, but like other Planet Fitness locations, encouraging members to practice common sense by placing bags on an elevated service or against the wall makes more sense. Chasing members down in the gym to enforce a policy (which is not company wide) like this is not going to win fans, retain membership or increase your revenue (or earn positive reviews on Google). Focusing on bigger issues like gym cleanliness, which this Planet Fitness can improve upon, would make a difference. Leo is a great employee and takes care of the gym when he is there however you need more bodies throughout the day cleaning more to keep up with the traffic frequenting this facility-not to mention doing a better job with prompt facility maintenance. Consistent customer service and overall "upbeat" attitude amongst all staff members would also be an area in need of attention. And finally, updating your gym equipment, especially stocking the functional fitness area with fresh bands, an adequate amount of kettlebells (which there are not), new TRX straps and more of them would be a start. Little details go a long way. My hope is that the owners pay attention and start to enforce with care and consideration the policies that make sense, make members feel welcome and improve the overall “ “workout” experience of this Planet Fitness. JUST CANCEL MY MEMBERSHIP. I WAS APPROACH BY ONE OF THE EMPLOYEE STAFF MEMBERS WHO TOLD ME THAT I CAN NOT JUMP ROPE INSIDE THE GYM AND THAT I WOULD NEED TO GO OUTSIDE THE BUILDING AND JUMP ROPE. I FELT IT WAS SO DISRESPECTFUL THAT THEY WOULD SEND ME OUTSIDE ON SIDE WALK IN THIS UNCONDITIONAL WEATHER TO JUMP ROPE. I HAVE BEEN A MEMBER WITH PLANET FITNESS AIKEN FOR QUITE SOMETIME NOW AND HAVE BEEN JUMP ROPING LITERALLY EVERY SINGLE DAY THAT I AM IN THE GYM. I WAS NEVER TOLD OR SHOWN IN THE RULE BOOK OR NOTHING VISUAL IN THE GYM THAT STATES JUMP ROPING IS NOT ALOUD. YOU HAVE EVERY OTHER RULE POSTED IN THE GYM. NOW THE BOTHERING PART IS THAT MANY OF THE STAFF AND TRAINERS HAVE WITNESS ME JUMP ROPING AND HAS NEVER STATED OR MADE A COMMENT ABOUT ME JUMPING ROPING, NOT TO INCLUDED THE OTHER MEMBERS OF THE GYM THAT JUMP ROPE AND NOTHING IS SAID TO THEM. THIS IS A COMPLETE OUTRATE AND I FEEL DISCRIMINATED AGAINST DO TO MY NATIONALITY. MY CAUCASIAN COUNTER PART JUMP ROPES AS WELL AND NOTHING HAS EVER BEEN SAID TO HER OR HIM. Ok good day. I like to give a shout out to Leo he's a good guy. Always friendly and always cheerful and likes conversations knows his job keeps the place clean. To miss Christy a great lady runs the place well and always responsive and cheerful thank you. Now on to a matter, a policy deal and alot of people our aware the bag deal on gym floor yes there policy but so many other policy they have to but seems like this one about the bag is the mostly concern about. For yrs nothing said but recently something with a certain person that owns this place is making this matter a priority above all. Well I need my bag close for my work outs and health related problems. But not on me this issue has been talked about around the gyms many want to quit. I believe this person that owns this gym needs to rethink on how to deal with this. Because Aiken can make you our break you. The equipment is out of date and floor issues that can be a tripping issue. I think it needs more concern on this than a bag. Otherwise a great place to really work out and...
