The choices in Anchorage for RV parks are few and far between. The best thing I can say about this place is it is reasonably clean and that is not unimportant. There is a train track that runs parallel to the entire campground… that wouldn’t be so bad except they have to blow the whistle maaaany time to cross the intersection. Add in the fact that there’s a fire station across the street and this is the noisiest campground ever. There are a handful of picnic tables scattered around but not one for every site. The sites do have sewer, water, and electric. No problems there. It’s in a very industrial area and there are electronic codes for the bathroom door. The bathrooms were cleaned very well but in need of repair. 2/3 showers were covered in waterproof tape at the bottom. 3 stars for cleanliness. 1 star for location/amenities. The fact is that there aren’t many options but this one’s probably your best bet for a clean shower.

Decent campground with good facilities that are kept fairly clean (and bonus, showers are not extra cost). Yes it’s next to the train tracks, and yes you hear the train a few times a day. Didn’t really bother me to be honest, and my kids got excited trying to catch the train going by from the road by the entrance. An airport nearby too, so you hear some planes throughout the day — didn’t really bother me either. It’s nice that you’re not quite stacked right next to your neighbours; there is a bit of grass between most sites (some even have room for a picnic table). It’s got a good location overall. Got to see some spawning salmon just a five minute walk away along the Ship Creek trail. Would definitely recommend this campground for a night or two.

Nice little RV park! Easy to figure out full hookups, and felt very secluded despite being in anchorage. We were worried about the noise that others mentioned, but it was perfectly quiet all night!

We have stayed at virtually every campground in the Anchorage area over the years and from our view, this is one of the best. Ship Creek RV is an amazingly peaceful and secure little oasis in the middle of downtown Anchorage and John and Heather (the campground hosts) go the extra mile to make sure you have the best possible experience while there. It's important to know that the campsites are near the railroad tracks and this is because the Alaska RR owns the land, but we find the train a somewhat intriguing experience and have even started learning what the different whistles mean. It's kind of fun to wave to the tourists when the tourist trains leave and return every day and we feel secure knowing that the area is patrolled by RR security. I mean, Anchorage is a city and like all cities, it is important to feel safe. We also love that this campground comes with bears. Yup. Black bears. I saw them more than once, but they were respectful bears for the most part and as long as you follow the rules about not leaving food out, they basically just pass through and give you that wildlife experience. This campground has great water and convenient hookups. Because it is older, the spaces a little narrow, but we were able to easily work around that. If you're vigilant, you might find some wild raspberries to snack on around the park and due to it's location, the convenience to accessing Anchorage and points beyond could not be any better. After staying there several times this summer, we highly recommend Ship Creek RV and look forward to visiting again during coming RV seasons. We met people from all over the world there, which really added to...

I don't know if the staff here is here every year, but the people they have this early season are beyond amazing. We stayed at quite a few campgrounds while renting an RV, and they were so helpful and lovely!

Everyone was so nice and accommodating, We didn't need them often, but the bathrooms were very clean. Hookups for RVs worked with no issue.

It is next to the the train track, but we didn't hear any trains after about 11pm or before 8:30-ish am. The spots along the train tracks seem mostly reserved for their rental RVs- perhaps ask for further back in the lot and further from the train if you're a late riser- or perhaps a white noise machine! There were planes as well. We were up early, but as a light sleeper, I would want something to block the outside noise for sure.

We talked to several of the office staff, and they were all wonderful. The women who checked us out on June 11 were so incredibly hospitable- I'm so sorry I've forgotten your names. I think one might have been called Theresa (loves tattoos, but hates pain) , and the other lovely woman from Florida (works in healthcare) was wonderful as well.

We walked with ease to the Ulu Factory and 49th State Brewing, as well as the downtown mall, so walking is accessible. A rideshare to the Aviation Museum (right next to the airport)...

Hello travelers! I am working at this RV park for the summer so I figured I’d give everyone updated information.

Pull through sites (limited) - $89 Back ins - $79 Dry sites - $59 Shower only - $10

We have brand new washers and dryers $4 each

Spots are generally maxed at a week as we are built for tourists not long term stays. Good sam discount of 10%

The good - we are only about a half mile walk to downtown where you can do some shopping and visit really great restaurants. They also have bike rentals

The bad - yes, we are right along a railroad and trains do come through frequently. There are also a lot of homeless in the area, but that seems unavoidable if you’re going to be anywhere in Anchorage. There haven’t been any wandering into the park and/or creating unsafe situations for guests since I’ve been here. All of our staff also lives on site and we feel very safe. There is security hired by the railroad that come through almost daily. The sites aren’t huge but we can pretty much guarantee that you don’t have neighbors in the sites directly next to you unless you come in the busiest time (July/August).

Our direct phone number is...
