Food is good, can be scanty and much overpriced. 4 thin birria tacos, with 2 tablespoons of onion and exactly 5 cilantro leaves for $23.50. No side included, just a small bowl of broth for dipping. They use low alcohol tequila in their margaritas ($12.50) for a shorty and zero booze taste is evident. I am puzzled by the good reviews for the decor because many things are scratched, broken, or damaged. All the chairs are heavily stained and can’t be properly cleaned because they’re a cream colored household fabric, not restaurant grade materials.
However, the worst is UNETHICAL and shady practices. The prices on your bill will not match the menu prices and you’re given no explanation. The tacos were $23.50 on the menu and my bill said $24.23. A can of diet soda does not appear on their menu and it was $5.50 but I had to ask for glass, ice and straw and got rolled eyes. They added a 3% surcharge to my friend’s bill and when questioned they said it was a surcharge for credit card use. However she had not yet indicated whether it was cash or credit, but the up charge was already included in the total on the bill delivered to the table.
We had a long discussion over all of this with two employees because the menu price you are expecting is not the price you will pay. They said the inflated prices on my bill were “in case” I used a credit card, but because I paid cash my bill should have been reduced to the menu price. I paid cash including tip at the table, but the up charge money that should have been returned to me was kept by the server thereby, increasing his tip. No explanation of any of this ever offered until I questioned it when as we left.
This practice was applied inconsistently because the charge was added as a separate line item on one bill and they just increased price of each food item on the other bill. However, it was always to the house advantage and without any notice to the customer.
So look at your bills closely and you will find that they do not agree with prices on the menu and I will call it fraudulent. For obvious reasons, I...
Read moreTried this place today for lunch with some co workers. I ordered the tuna melt and noticed a piece of hair on the side of my sandwich. When I went to take it off I realized it was mixed into the tuna salad and was immediately turned off. I discreetly went over to the hostess, told her and pointed out the hair to her. She seemed apologetic. I didn't want to cause any sort of scene so I just asked to have the sandwich replaced with another sandwich and asked for it to-go since a long amount of time had gone by at this point. Everyone else was almost done with their food. When I asked that the sandwich be replaced she asked me what side I wanted. She started naming the options and I went with the first thing she said which was chips, not realizing the soup I had ordered with the sandwich that had hair in it could be considered a side. It was never suggested. I was surprised seeing I was charged for the replacement meal and a side of soup. I'm already still patronizing your business after finding hair in my food and you want to be petty and charge me for soup when it could've been considered a side. Everyone at my table agreed the whole dish should have been taken care of if they were really trying to make it right, but it was clear that was not their intentions in the first place because when another girl came over to asked the problem she said "We have been here long time and never had a problem with hair." basically insinuating I was lying when I pointed it out very clearly to my whole table and the first girl. Mind you there was not a hair net in sight. This experience was very disappointing and I do not plan to return. Accountability was lacking. On another note, service was very slow, so if you have any sort of time constraints this is probably not a good place to go. The way it is decorated inside is...
Read moreThis place would've gotten a much higher rating if they didn't just snub me for a half hour until I walked out. It was only my second time eating here. I left to go get my phone back from home, came back as promised, and now they're treating me like a ghost. I guess because a smoothie and 20٪ tip weren't good enough for them even though I explained I needed to go get my phone and come back to order food.
Excellent food. Lots of empty seats. They weren't busy. I'm hungry and standing in the street now. They didn't even try to stop me from leaving.
I'm taking down my photos and my five stars. This is why you don't snub customers. I'm in the top 10٪ of restaurant reviewers, and yes. I go incognito so I get an authentic idea of how a restaurant treats its customers. I don't brag, and I don't come in acting like I'm a hot shot. I am just a hardworking woman on her day off and thus, dressed down in jeans and a t-shirt, not dressed up. I'm there to be like any other customer...
... so when you don't treat me like I'm valued as one just because I don't look like the rest, it's definitely going to be noticed as discrimination. I'm not a tourist. I'm a local. And you need locals over the cold months.... especially ones that would've become regulars, like I was fully prepared to start doing. I literally pass by this...
