My boyfriend booked this particular TownPlace Suites for my birthday weekend in NM. This hotel was central to all of the ABQ activities we were interested in--the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center is just around the corner, Mama's Minerals is just the next parking lot over, and quite a few highly-rated restaurants are within walking distance as well. The hotel was also right off the highway which made it simple to navigate to places out-of-town. Check-in was really easy. This TownPlace Suites was extremely dog friendly so we brought ours on this trip. Checking him in was also easy. They give you a form to fill out and there's a $50 cleaning charge for the whole stay--unlike other places that charge per night. There's also a grassy area out back that is stocked with poop bags. Our dog really loved the staff and the head scratches and treats they liked to bestow on him.
They designated a handicap-accesible room for us. It was super spacious with a kitchenette equipped with fridge, dishwasher, 2-burner stove, and all dishes and utensils you might need. The bathroom was also pretty big, and I enjoyed the two shower head options. Everything in the room was clean. Even the bathroom was spic-and-span! We were in room 310 and the front desk told us that it'd be loud because we were right by the elevators but we never even noticed them. The only thing we could hear outside of our room were the guests right above us which was not a big deal.
The continental breakfast was decent. There's a waffle machine open for use every day, cereal, breakfast breads, oatmeal, scrambled eggs, and a rotating menu of meats. They had a pretty good juice station but what really impressed me is their hot drink station which included a plant-based option. My boyfriend enjoyed the hot coffee which he describes as good quality and I loved that I could make an oatmilk London Fog every day.
The fitness area was well-equipped; though, we didn't get a chance to work out here. There are also two outdoor patio areas that looked nice, but that we did not have time to enjoy.
On Saturday, my boyfriend parked on the side of the building with his hazard lights on to recover something I had forgotten in the hotel. A security guard in a vehicle stopped to check and see if we were okay. I already felt safe in this neighborhood but I felt ESPECIALLY safe after that! Not only is there a security post right behind the hotel, but there is also federally regulated property the next parking lot over. I felt comfortable walking my dog alone late at night.
We heard that the hotel was sold out over the weekend but we never had an issue with parking. The staff were always extremely helpful and courteous. I don't think I saw anyone twice at the front desk, but each person was knowledgeable and very efficient in their job. I loved this hotel. The staff was great, the hotel was pristine, the location was safe and accessible, and it was cute to see all the hot air balloons floating around in the distance every morning. It's just a great...
Read moreI DO NOT SMOKE If I could give a minus review it would be a minus 5. I stayed here over night for 1 night. Everything was ok the breakfast was not good at all. Here is my complaint I checked out at around 9:30. It was me, my teen daughter and her friend. Around 10:30 I got a call from my daughter who works at a Marriott in a different state. She was able to get me her friends and family discount that we used to stay that night. (on a $260 dollar room I only got $30 off) The staff here proceeded to tell her that I had been smoking in the hotel room that not only would I be charged the full price of the room but will also be charged a $200 fee because they have to shut down that room and use an air filter in it for 24 hours. I called the hotel and asked what the problem was. They told me that I smoked in the room. I told the lady the I do not smoke and that I have never smoked or vaped. She told me that I did smoke in the room and that it filled the hall with smoke. I DO NOT SMOKE and my teen daughter and her friend do not smoke either. I told her it was not me and she just kept saying that it was me and the room smells like smoke. She kept saying it was me and I kept telling her I do not smoke. I told her I was leaving the zoo and, that I wanted to come smell the smoke in the room myself and she told me she can not let me in the room. I did swear at the lady because I was mad and being accused of something that I did not do. I told her that she needed to look at the cameras and see who went into the room after we left because it had to be one of her staff members with a key. The thing is that they have NO proof it was me smoking in the room. They smelled smoke they did not see me smoking. I have plenty of people that can vouch that I do not smoke including my son and his family that were staying there also and who were in the room and walked out with us when we checked out. My thoughts are that a staff member went in there after we left and had a smoke because it wasn't me. I checked out around 9:30 and my receipt said I checked out at 11:06. (We were at the zoo at 10:00) Or they had to come up with a story to make me pay full price for the room. The manager did waive the $200 fee this time only, (I will never stay there again) but I paid full price for the room. Also my daughter is loosing her privilege to get a discount because of these false accusations The reason for the post is to let people know there is some shady stuff going on there Be careful staying there. Personally I would look at the receptionist...
Read moreHaving the opportunity to regularly stay over many accommodations across and occasionally outside the country, not a professional hotel reviewer by any means, and not a regular business traveler - but as a primarily pleasure and needs wanderer, I have developed as what I believe is my concise method for scoring the worthiness of each hotel visited. But before my scoring, I must say, this has been one of the most enjoyable stays at a hotel I’ve had regardless of its spectrum of price, quality and/or location. My criteria are as follows and the results are: 1) ease of access to and from public or private ground transportation [Score: 4.5]; 2) convenient and safe parking [Score: 5.0]; 3) access, accuracy and convenience of check in and check out [Score: 5.0]; 4) atmosphere, ambience, public facilities, lounging areas and access to an office center and Wi-Fi access [Score: 5.0]; 5) overall customer service - including but not limited to Hospitality, Support Services, Concierge knowledge, communication, attitude and demeanor of staff [Score: 5.0]; 6) quality, cleanliness, value, convenience, amenities (i.e., ironing board, iron, TV, charging access, phone, et.al.) and comfort of rooms, beds, room safe and/or valet services [Score:5.0]; Taking all the aforementioned categories in a scale of 1 star to 5 stars with 1 being the worst and 5 being the best a hotel can be! This hotel rates a: 4.9. Exceptional. Most positive point(s) at this hotel is/are: the availability of frozen meals available for emergency eats situations in lobby; extensive comfortable seating and TVs in the lounge area; comfortable seating in both outdoor eating patio and smoking section with the creature comforts of seating outside for we smokers; and well-lit exteriors. Most negative points found here are: were basically none. My price to value to overall assessment: very,...
